WWE’s big weekend just got even more exciting. As Clash at the Castle takes place this Saturday in Glasgow, WWE is set to make a joint major announcement involving Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling NOAH.
Pro Wrestling NOAH announced on social media that a joint announcement with WWE is coming this Sunday. According to an official statement on NOAH’s website, “Pro Wrestling NOAH and the world’s largest professional wrestling organization, WWE, will make a major announcement at ‘ABEMA presents GRAND SHIP 2024 in YOKOHAMA’, at Yokohama BUNTAI on (Sunday), June 16th.” Additionally, NOAH’s X account teased a message from an undisclosed wrestler, adding to the anticipation.
While the announcement is sudden, this collaboration isn’t entirely out of the blue.
In May, Fightful reported that Yasuaki Okamoto, the new President of CyberFight (Pro Wrestling NOAH’s parent company), expressed his goal to “strengthen relationship with WWE.” In 2022, NOAH and WWE, under the leadership of Paul Levesque (Triple H), Nick Khan, and Stephanie McMahon, partnered to let Shinsuke Nakamura wrestle against The Great Muta during Muta’s retirement tour in 2023. Since then, Muta was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and has become a scouting advisor for NOAH.

The announcement comes at a fascinating time for WWE. Last Sunday, NXT Battleground featured TNA’s Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace challenging Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship. Additionally, WWE recently revealed that Iyo Sky will compete in Marigold, a new joshi (women’s) promotion in Japan, against Utami Hayashishita. NXT also saw Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes hint at a cross-promotional star as a potential challenger for NXT Champion Trick Williams.
Whatever WWE and Pro Wrestling NOAH have planned marks WWE’s next step in its collaborative efforts, which could lead to many exciting developments for fans worldwide.
