Rather than format a traditional weekly episode, this week's Show Time Power Hour was a highlight reel of last weekend's "Night of the Legends."
William Regal and Mauro Ranallo were the narrators for this special episode. The following are joined in progress results from that historic iPPV:
Match One ~ George South vs. The Masked Superstar
Superstar won a fun opening match with the "Cobra Clutch" after nailing South with a "Headbutt" from what appeared to be a loaded mask.
Match Two ~ Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat & Richie Steamboat vs. "Olympic Hero" Kurt Angle & Jeff Jarrett
Ricky's entrance shocked the crowd, as he was unannounced. He looked great, considering he's been out of the ring for many years. The father-son duo wowed the crowd with several tandem moves. And yes, Richie qualifies for the division because he officially retired due to his back injuries before joining the "Show Time Dojo." Most of the match was dominated by Angle and Jarrett, who formed a great team. In the end, Angle had the "Ankle Lock" on Richie, who was not legal. Jarrett attempted "The Stroke," but Ricky blocked it and sent him through the ropes. Ricky climbed the ropes as Kurt wrenched down on Richie's ankle. He was screaming at the referee to ring the bell, but the illegal man was the victim. Meanwhile, Ricky launched himself off the top with his "Flying Bodypress" and got the three-count on Angle before he knew what hit him.
Match Three ~ Booker T vs. Dean Malenko
Dean's surprise appearance got a good reaction. This was the match of the night, workrate wise. Both men went all in and gave the fans some great chain wrestling. We also had some fun moments, like Booker's world famous "Spinarooni." In the end, Booker reversed an attempted "Powerbomb" into a "Book End." He went for an "Axe Kick" that Dean evaded and then hit a "Lariat." He locked in the "Texas Cloverleaf," but the bell rang while Booker fought through the pain, signifying the twenty-minute time limit had expired. Both men got a standing ovation.
Match Four ~ Number One Contenders to the NWA: Show Time Legends Tag Team Championship ~ "Fatal Four-Way" match ~ Bully Ray & D-Von Dudley vs. "The Rock-n-Roll Express" (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) vs. Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson with James J. Dillon vs. "The Heavenly Bodies" ("Sweet" Stan Lane & Dr. Tom Prichard) with Jim Cornette
This was a great match. The Dudleys were a dominant force for much of the battle. This ended up being a war of pretty fierce proportions. In the midst of a chaotic ending, the Dudleys nailed "3-D" on Blanchard. "R-n-R" and "Bodies" were fighting on the floor and the referee was trying to break that up. Arn hit a knee in D-Von's back and tossed him. Cornette and Dillon got into an argument on the apron and Cornette's racket ended up in the ring. Arn walloped Bully on the head and got the pin.
Match Five ~ "War Games" to Determine the new NWA: Show Time Legends Heavyweight & Tag Team Champions ~ "The KliQ" ("Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Bad Guy" Scott Hall, "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash, and "New Age Outlaws" {"Road Dogg" Brian James & Billy Gunn}) vs. "Rated R Superstar" Edge, Christian Cage, The Rock, Goldberg, & The Undertaker
Christian stated against Gunn. The order of entry was: Scott Hall, The Rock, Brian James, Edge, Shawn Michaels, Goldberg, Kevin Nash, and The Undertaker. After several more intense minutes, the end came when Christian got his injured shoulder double-teamed into the cage by Hall and Nash. They began to stomp away on him and began to yell at him to quit. He wouldn't give in and the rest of "The KliQ" kept the opponents at bay. Finally, Christian was rendered incapacitated. The referees went ahead and called for the bell when they ceased to get a response.
After the match, Shawn Michaels got on the mic and declared Hall and Nash the new Tag Champions and himself the new Heavyweight Champion.
