Since my last draft of this program was accidentally deleted 3/4 of the way through, this will be a highlights post. My apologies.
William Regal opened the episode with Mauro Ranallo and Jim Cornette. They hyped the card, which would feature the first televised match of the Tag League. Regal threw it over to Legends Division hostess Cathy Kelley, who introduced the new Legends commentary team of Jim Ross, Jerry "The King" Lawler, and Tony Schiavone. They introduced the Legends Division match for the night.
Match One ~ Jeff Jarrett with Karen Jarrett vs. George South
Jarrett won in 9:08 after "The Stroke."
After the match, he and South were attacked by "The KliQ" until Edge, Christian Cage, Booker T, "The Heavenly Bodies," and the Dudleys made the save. Edge got on the mic and declared that every legend would have the chance to succeed in this company and that "The KliQ" didn't have political power anymore.
After the break, Charly Caruso interviewed Television Champion Jacob Fatu about his title defense versus Kota Ibushi. Fatu matter-of-factly stated that Ibushi wouldn't know what hit him.
Match Two ~ NWA: Show Time Television Championship ~ Jacob Fatu vs. Kota Ibushi
Fatu won with his "Hop-up Moonsault" after amazingly kicking out of the "Phoenix Splash" earlier in this absolute banger of a match in 20:03
After the commercial, Regal reviewed the two blocks for the Tag League.
Block A
"The Revival"
The Usos
"Four Horsemen" (Chris Jericho & CM Punk)
"Villain Incorporated"
"Bollywood Boyz"
"Varsity Club" (Matt Riddle & Jake Hager)
"War Machine" (Hanson & Raymond Rowe)
Aleister Black & Ricochet
Block B
"The Mighty Don't Kneel"
"Suzuki-gun" (Davey Boy Smith, Jr. & Zack Sabre, Jr.)
"Varsity Club" (Brock Lesnar & Shelton Benjamin)
Shawn & Ariyah Daivari
Nick Aldis & Johnny Gargano
"Sons of Steel"
"British Strong Style/Moustache Mountain"
Kota Ibushi & Pete Dunne
Match Three ~ Tag League ~ "The Revival" (Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson) with Jim Cornette vs. Jimmy & Jey Uso with Trinity Uso
(results courtesy of wwe.com)
If there was any type of superstars who could conceivably thwart Dash & Dawson’s throwback style of competition, it was The Usos, who are just as likely to administer a barrage of "Superkicks" and "Suicide Dives" as they are "Wristlocks" and punches. Indeed, the match began as a battle of old school vs. new school, with Dash & Dawson using every trick in the storied tag team books—they pulled moves from Demolition and Power & Glory, while also using the ref to their advantage in the wheelin’-dealin’ style of Tully & Arn when they distracted him from an Uso tag. The Usos, meanwhile, simply brawled their way out of the hole, countering each of Dash & Dawson’s carefully-planned maneuvers with the freewheeling, high-flying style that made them multiple-time Tag Team Champions. It seemed that would be enough, as they had the champs lined up for a double-suicide dive…but Scott Dawson yanked Jey Uso out of the ring by his ankles, and legal man Dash Wilder went to work, planting Jimmy with a "Step-up Tornado DDT" and rope-a-doping his way into position for a "Shatter Machine" from the “Top Guys” that ended the match.
