Tokyo, Japan - A press conference was held today at Korakuen Hall where energy investor Shuji Kanemura announced the formation of a new global promotion named Japex Pro-Wrestling. Mr. Kanemura stated his desire to return to the basics of Pro-Wrestling and to establish a truly independent and global promotion. He explained that the name Japex Pro-Wrestling was chosen as a way to celebrate Japan's position as the apex of the Pro-Wrestling landscape.
The promotion will be focused around top quality talent from countries such as Japan, Mexico and the western world. Fans can expect a more cutting edge and risque kings road style promotion, full of all the hard hitting drama that Japan is renowned for. Mr. Kanemura announced that the Vice-President and match-maker will be none other then the legendary Atsushi Onita!
Onita joined Mr. Kanemura and thanked him for the opportunity to once again take a promotion to the apex of the Wrestling world. He announced that the promotion would be launching immediately and would kick off with a Champions League in which every wrestler would get a fair and honest opportunity at becoming the companies inaugural champion. Onita stated that all titles would be governed by the World Wrestling Alliance (WWA) and not the NWA. He made it clear that while Japex Pro will adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the NWA, the company would absolutely not be subjected to the gross oppression that other companies face.
The Champions Carnival will be a round robin tournament with knockout matches concluding the opening group stage. Onita stated that an announcement would be coming soon about the participants and the schedule. As for championships in the company, Onita said that the primary title would be called the WWA Japex Crown or J-Crown for short. He also referenced WWA Tag Team titles as well as a WWA Joshi title, however there was no mention of when these titles would be introduced. The press conference concluded with Mr. Kanemura and Onita shaking hands in front of the Japex Pro logo and inviting media and fans alike to send along any further questions that they may have.
