William Regal: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the finest sixty minutes of pro wrestling in the world, the Show Time Power Hour! I'm your host, William Regal. With me are Mauro Ranallo and Jim Cornette! Men, we saw Chris Jericho get a huge victory over Edge in one-on-one competition last week, but he certainly paid the price for it!"
Mauro Ranallo: "Momma Mia! It was the 'Spear' heard 'round the world, as Edge put Jericho through the ringside barricade!"
Jim Cornette: "It was a great main event, but tonight just might top it!"
Regal: "That's right! Commissioner Sting has learned that NWA: Show Time will have a representative challenge for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at Spring Stampede in April! He is about to come out to announce how that challenger will be determined!"
JoJo Offerman: "Ladies and gentlemen, our esteemed Commissioner, Sting."
Sting came out to great fanfare.
Sting: "As I announced on Twitter today, NWA: Show Time will send a challenger to face Brian Cage for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at its annual April pay-per-view, Spring Stampede. I have thought about how we will determine who that challenger will be. Here is my decision. Tonight, beginning here in the next couple of minutes, we will have a 'Gauntlet' match. Eight men will take part. The last man standing wins the title shot."
Ric Flair and "The Four Horsemen" came out to loud boos.
Ric Flair: "Let me get this straight, Sting! You're going to have an eight-man 'Gauntlet' match to determine a World Championship contender?"
Sting: "That's right."
Flair: "Well, the four men standing with me are all former World Champions, multi-time in fact."
Sting: "Correct. What's your point?"
Flair: "All four of them should be involved in this match!"
Sting: "Well, that's not going to happen. But, I will allow one of them to take part. You have thirty seconds to figure out who it'll be."
Each man began to plead his case with Flair at the same time. Chris Jericho was screaming, "I beat Edge! I beat Edge!," at the top of his lungs. Finally, Flair relented.
Flair: "Okay, okay! It's Chris Jericho!"
The other three looked disappointed, but quickly spurned Jericho on.
Sting: "Well, that settles it. Chris Jericho is in the 'Gauntlet.' And, since he's already out here, he can be the first man in the ring! So, without further adieu, let's get it on!"
Regal: "An eight-man 'Gauntlet?!' Indeed! We'll take a quick break to get the referee out here. When we return, we'll see who Chris Jericho's first opponent is!"
Regal: "We're back! Let's go to the ring for this all-important 'Gauntlet' match!"
Match One ~ Eight-Man "Gauntlet" match ~ Chris Jericho vs.
Jericho stood in the ring, still complaining that he was first up. Matt Riddle's music hit to a massive applause. On his way to the ring, he was jumped by the rest of "The Horsemen," who had remained at ringside. They then threw him into the ring where Jericho hit his "Codebreaker" for the quick pin. Next out was Kevin Steen. He got the same treatment. "The Horsemen" were able to perpetrate these acts due to the bell not having been rung yet. Jericho got the pin after another quick "Codebreaker." He was riding high, then Commissioner Sting came back out.
Sting: "That's enough cheating! Jericho, you're not going to win this match because your running buddies are doing the dirty work for you! I spent too many years battling 'The Horsemen' myself to let this stand! They are banned from rignside for the rest of the match!"
Amid heavy protest, Security escorted Flair and the rest of the group to the back. Meanwhile, Ricochet was out next. He and Jericho engaged in a long "Gauntlet" leg. Ricochet looked poised for victory. He went for a corner dive on Jericho, who moved and pulled the referee in the way. Luckily, Ricochet ws able to stop himself before he crashed into the official. The referee, who covered up assuming he'd be flattened, did not see Chris nail Ricochet with a low blow. Jericho then hit the "Codebreaker" for another pin. The referee strongly admonished Jericho for putting his hands on him. Killer Kross was next up. He manhandled Jericho for much of the leg while Scarlett Bordeaux nodded her approval from ringside. Jericho did gain the advantage for a short time. He began to taunt Bordeaux, who became angrier and angrier. Bordeaux jumped up onto the ring apron and began shouting at Jericho. The referee tried to keep her at bay. Kross then stepped in to hold her back. Jericho seized the opportunity and hit a "Springboard Corner Dropkick" to Kross' back that sent him careening into Bordeaux. Scarlett fell to the floor. Kross immediately jumped down to check on her. The referee had to begin a count since Kross had left the ring. He never acknowledged it and continued to assist his lady friend. Ten counts later, Jericho had survived another leg. He was starting to show signs of wear, though. Jericho's face went pale when "The Fiend's" music hit. He began his theatrical trek to the ring when he was blindsided by Brock Lesnar. The two began to brawl on the entrance stage. Jericho demanded the bell be rung since "Fiend" had already made his way out. After a couple of moments, the official relented and rang the bell. He had no choice but to count "The Fiend" out, as he and Brock were engaged in a war that went backstage. Edge came out to a huge reaction and eyed Jericho with a big smile on his face. He immediately hit the ring and began to throw fists at Chris' head left and right. The referee never could control Edge, as he continued to wail away. The referee administered two separate five-counts, to no avail. He finally disqualified Edge. The last man out was WALTER. Jericho had a look of shock and anguish on his face. WALTER chooped the hide off jericho's chest. He took great pleasure in inflicting punishment. It seemed only a matter of time as WALTER continued to toss Jericho about. WALTER went for a "Running Yakuza Kick," but Jericho ducked. The poor referee got caught in the crossfire. WALTER tracked Jericho down and nailed a "Powerbomb." He had Jericho dead to rights and laid on him for at least ten seconds before finally realizing the official was not going to make a count. frustrated, he yelled out and went over to revive the official. Jericho rolled out of the ring and grabbed a steel chair, which he used to bash WALTEr in the back. he then dumped the massive Austrian outside the ring. The referee started to regain coherence and began to count WALTER out. WALTER got back to his feet at seven. Jericho stepped toward him, but the referee turned him away. At that moment, Maryse Ouellet jumped over the rail from out of the crowd and latched onto WALTER's leg as he attempted to reenter the ring. She shielded herself underneat the ring skirt as she held on for dear life. WALTER tried to shake her, but could not. The referee resumed his count, hitting ten before WALTER finally broke free and slid back into the ring.
Winner = Chris Jericho in a total match time of 53:08
WALTER vehemently protested that Maryse had held his leg, but the referee never saw and she had hopped the guardrail without being seen. Jericho slumped over onto the floor as his mates ran out to congratulate him.
Regal: "I simply cannot fathom the fact that Chris Jericho just beat seven other men, and not once did he do it cleanly or without some kind of assistance! He literally stole a World Title shot! But, the stipulation was set in stone. The winner gets Brian Cage at Spring Stampede! Fans, we're out of time for this week. Please join us again next Tuesday on TBS for more of the Show Time Power Hour! For Mauro Ranallo and Jim Cornette, I'm William Regal, saying ta ta for now!"
The episode ended with the image of an exhausted Chris Jericho being carried on the shoulders of "The Four Horsemen" as Ric Flair strutted around the ring.
Mauro Ranallo: "Momma Mia! It was the 'Spear' heard 'round the world, as Edge put Jericho through the ringside barricade!"
