William Regal: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the finest sixty minutes of pro wrestling in the world, the Show Time Power Hour! I'm your host, William Regal. With me are Mauro Ranallo and Jim Cornette!"
Just then, "Cult of Personality" hit to bring out CEO CM Punk, along with the rest of "The Magnificent Seven," all sporting their championship title belts.
CM Punk: "This is how you start a television program, not with some over-the-hill Brit driveling on about 'the finest sixty minutes of pro wrestling in the wuhhhld (British voice)!' The people pay to see the top stars. We're the top stars! That's why they call us 'The Magnificent Seven!' We are the seven biggest names in this company and in this world. And, I am the CEO of the number one company in the NWA. Now, there's a little known fact that was brought to my attention by our esteemed Commissioner Ric Flair. The NWA World Championship may be defended on television programming for each NWA member territory once quarterly. Adam Cole has not defended the World Championship on NWA: Show Time programming in a very long time. That changes tonight. The man is in the building and will defend the title against the next challenger in the defense pool as designated by the NWA board of Governors. That man is Brian Cage. I had him flown in just for this occasion. But, I don't like this whole "challenger pool" idea very much. You see, 'The Monster Among Men' was the reigning World Champion before Adam Cole stole the title from him. He deserves a shot as much as anyone. He and Brian Cage had a 'Number One Contender's' match that ended inconclusively. So, I am adding Braun Strowman to this main event, making it a 'Three-Way Dance!' To ensure that the action does not get out of hand, I am assigning a special referee who can handle all three of these men. He is none other than WALTER!"
Just then, "Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva played to bring out company owner and former CEO Jordan Richards.
Jordan Richards: "I see what you did there, Punk. Very clever. But, let's sprinkle in a little truth to this whole mix, shall we? First of all, you didn't sign the World Championship match. I did...over a month ago. It already was in the works before you stole the CEO position. Second of all, adding Braun Strowman is a clear attempt to get another title belt in your camp. Adam Cole has defended the title against Braun multiple times already. But, he's in. That's your prerogative. However, what's not your prerogative is assigning referees to a World Championship match. You don't have that level of authority. WALTER's out. But, I'm the Chairman of the NWA Board of Governors, so I do have the authority to assign an official. I had a feeling you might try to pull something like this off. You've assigned handpicked referees to every match involving your boys since taking over. So, I decided to be proactive and license a special referee who would call it down the middle. I have someone in mind who can handle all three of the men in this match. He's someone who knows pro wrestling inside and out. He will keep order and honor because he's a bona fide American hero, an 'Olympic Hero,' in fact. That's right. The special referee for this World Championship match will be twelve-time World Champion and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle!"
Regal: "Oh my!"
Punk: "Kurt Angle! Now, who's trying to sway the match?! This is outrageous!"
Richards: "Take it or leave it. If you don't like Angle as the special referee, you can pull Braun out of the match and go your merry way."
Punk: "You'd like that, wouldn't you?! No way! Braun stays in the match! He deserves this shot!"
Richards: "Well, then we'll see what happens after the commercial break. Because, the World Championship match is next!"
Regal: "We have a 'Three-Way Dance' for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at the top of the program! Wow! We'll take a quick break and be back with that exciting contest!"
As the episode was coming back to air, the scene was backstage, where Kurt Angle was walking to the ring. CM Punk approached him, stopped him, and whispered something into his ear for a couple of minutes before sending him away. Angle looked dejected. The scene shifted quickly to the commentary booth.
Regal: "We're back! All right, fans! Let's go to the ring for World Title action!"
Match One ~ NWA World Heavyweight Championship ~ Special Referee "Olympic Hero" Kurt Angle ~ Adam Cole with britt Baker & Kamilla Kaine vs. Brian Cage vs. "The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman with "The Goddess" Alexa Bliss
This match was marked with both chaos and controversy. In perhaps the most nefarious NWA World Championship match in memory, it was obvious CM Punk had gotten to Kurt Angle. Every time Cole had a pinning opportunity, there was a substantial delay in beginning the count and delivering it. When Cole was being pinned, the movements were lightning quick from Kurt Angle. This went on for what seemed an eternity. The only that saved Cole from being "pinned" early on was the third match participant, either Cage or Strowman, stopping pins. Ultimately, the plan to get the Wo4rld Championship off of Adam Cole worked. Adam hit "Last Shot" on Strowman, knocking him loopy. Before he could cover, Cage threw Cole out of the ring, then pounced on Strowman with a "Splash." Angle fast-counted before Strowman could kick out and rang the bell.
Winner and NEW NWA World Heavyweight Champion = Brian Cage by pinfall in 48:31
After the match, Angle attempted to leave ringside quickly. he was stopped by Jordan Richards. They were very near a camera, so it picked up the audio.
Richards: "What happened out here?!"
Kurt Angle: "Punk threatened my job if I didn't comply! He said I had to fast-count when someone was pinning Cole and slow-count when he was on top! He wanted Cole to lose! I have a wife and kids! I need this job!"
Punk then came storming over.
Punk: "That wasn't the plan, Kurt! It was supposed to be Braun!"
Richards stepped up to Punk and sent Angle away.
Richards: "What are you doing threatening Kurt Angle's job if he didn't do what you wanted?! Well, he did! Adam Cole is no longer the World Champion! Are you satisfied?! You stole another title from us!"
Punk: "No, I'm not satisfied! It should have been Braun!"
Richards: "Are you even listening to yourself?! You sound insane!"
Punk decked Richards with a right hand.
Regal: "Oh no! CM Punk has just assaulted the owner of this company! Surely there will be sort of repercussion for that move! Fans, it's mass hysteria out here! Not to be lost in all this confusion is the fact that Brian Cage is the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion! We're all out of time for this week. Please join us again next Tuesday on TBS for more of the Show Time Power Hour! For Mauro Ranallo and Jim Cornette, I'm William Regal, saying ta ta for now!"
