The world descended upon Nissan Stadium in Nashville, TN, this past Sunday to celebrate two things:
1. American independence, and
2. The annual installment of the summer's biggest event, Great American Bash.
70,000 filled the seats in anticipation of an all-American spectacle, which is exactly what they got. Every NWA United States Championship was on the line, along with some pivotal promotion-specific matches that carried lofty stipulations with them. The following are quick results posted in random order. Four of the matches posted are courtesy of @theindyjunkie (they will appear in a different font).
NWA United States Women's Championship ~ Ember Moon vs. Cheerleader Melissa
After a long back-and-forth match, Moon finished Melissa with her vaunted "Eclipse."
Winner and STILL NWA United States Women' s Champion = Ember Moon by pinfall in 17:02
NWA United States Tag Team Championship ~ "Ohio is 4 Killers" (Jon Moxley & Madman Fulton with Solomon Crowe & "Death Machine" Jessicka Havok) vs. "War Machine" ("WarBeard" Hanson & Raymond "Death" Rowe)
After a controversial tussle, Havok * Crowe interfered, causing the DQ for their team, but saving the titles.
Winners = "War Machine" by disqualification in 14:29 ("OI4K" retains)
NWA United States Heavyweight Championship ~ Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
After a fantastic strong style brawl, Joe finally put Shinsuke away with a "Cocquina Clutch."
Winner and STILL NWA United States Heavyweight Champion = Samoa Joe by submission in 23:10
This was a cluster of action and chaos from the opening bell. NWA: Femme Fatales Senior Referee Carly Rae had no control over, so she didn't try to. She let the melee ensue. This resembled an ancient battle, with bodies flying all around ringside, which became the war zone. The end saw Rosemary spray purple mist into the eyes of Mercedes KV, which led to Sienna hitting a "Discus Lariat" for the pinfall.
Winners = "The Hive" by pinfall in 20:46
NWA: Show Time High Stakes match ~ If "The Richards Collective" wins, "Allied Powers" must disband and CM Punk must retire from the sport of professional wrestling forever; If "Allied Powers" win, CM Punk is the new CEO of NWA: Show Time ~ Special Referee: NWA: Show Time Commissioner Ric Flair ~ "The Richards Collective" ("The Beast" Brock Lesnar, Adam Cole, "The One & Only" Ricochet, "National Treasure" Nick Aldis, "Glorious" Bobby Roode, & "Outlaw" James Storm with Eve Torres, Britt Baker, Kamilla Kaine, and Maryse Ouellet) vs. "Allied Powers" (CM Punk, "Ring General" WALTER, "The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman, Kota Ibushi, "King of Bros" Matt Riddle, & "The Goddess" Alexa Bliss with AJ Lee)
This was another chaotic match, but Flair took control early, forcing breaks and admonishing rule breaking. He even seemed to be calling the match down the middle. The common thought was that he would favor "TRC," which he has done with great relish in the past. The opposite became true by the end of the night. The NWA World Champion Adam Cole, who had been the star of the match, set up for his "Last Shot" finisher on Punk. As he went in for the kill, Flair nailed him with a groin shot, to the shock and awe of everyone in attendance. Cole went down in a heap. Everyone on the "Richards Collective" side stood with their jaws gaping, absolutely flummoxed. Punk rolled over onto Cole and Flair performed a lightning fast three-count, then quickly rolled out of the ring.
Winners = "Allied Powers" by pinfall in 25:15
Flair grabbed the microphone and declared, "No longer will this group be known as 'Allied Powers!' From now on, we are 'The Magnificent Seven!' And, say hello to your new boss, CM Punk! Woooo!"
Lesnar and company were still in a state of almost catatonic disarray as the night closed (This match ended the card).
NWA United States Junior Heavyweight Championship ~ Johnny Gargano vs. Tom Lawlor with "Catch Point" (Drew Gulak & Fred Yehi)
Gargano and Lawlor put on a clinic at the start of the match. Each man locking in a submission hold, forcing the other man to struggle to the ropes. They would hit moves and flow into various submission holds, but could not lock in final submissions. Drew and Fred would then try to trip up Gargano and help Lawlor with his holds at times. This caused the ref to send the duo to the back. From there, Lawlor was able to keep the action on the mat. Gargano was able to make the match go more his fast-paced style, hitting various moves off the ropes, including a diving flatliner. After a slingshot spear was hit, with a lifting knee he flowed into a Guillotine Gargano got to the ropes. Gargano would hit the slingshot DDT followed by the slingshot spear to pick up a near fall. He looked for a second slingshot DDT when Eva Marie grabbed his leg. Gargano kicked off Eva, but Lawlor Elbowed him then dragged him over the top rope with the swinging guillotine then locked the hold in tight. Gargano tried to fight but was unable to break free and eventually passed out. The ref would call the match.
Winner and NEW NWA United States Junior Heavyweight Champion = Tom Lawlor by submission in 18:23
Yehi and Gulak would rush to the ring and celebrate with Lawlor. Gargano would sit out at ringside looking up at Eva Marie as the ref brought him the HAWK High King Championship. Eva would point at the title signaling that she wants that championship.
IUC Indyweight Sentai Division Match ~ "latino World order" (Ultimo Ninja, Flamita, Bandido, Lady Maravilla, & Lady Puma) with Chavo Guerrero vs. "Aussie By Nature" (Ryan Rollins, JXT, Kyle Fletcher, Vixsin, & Charli Evans) with Jessica Troy
Ninja quickly chased after Rollins. This lead to them chasing all around the ring before JXT caught Ninja with a clothesline. The whole match seemed to be Aussie By Nature doing their best to keep Rollins away from Ninja. He would tag out the second Ninja tagged in. All of the lWo tried to chop down Vixsin, who dominated the match physically. Maravilla and Puma would double-team her, eventually taking her down with a senton/legsweep combination. Kyle and Flamita fought head-on, taking each other high-flying move for high-flying move. Bandido and Ninja faced off with JXT and forced him into the corner multiple times, making him take the brunt of a beating from all five of the lWo. The match eventually broke down, with all sides brawling, leading to a mad series of dives from Kyle, Flamita, Bandido, Puma, and Charli. This left Rollins alone in the ring with Ninja. Ninja went crazed on Rollins. He eventually forced Rollins to his knees and was handed scissors by Chavo to cut another lock of hair. Rollins pulled him close, ripped off the mask, and rolled him into a small package to get the three-count.
Winners = "Aussie By Nature" by pinfall in 16:44
Rollins quickly left the ring and was joined on the ramp by his team as the rest of lWo entered the ring to cover Ninja's face. Chavo and Flamita stare them down as all the Aussie's laugh.
NWA: SWAT Super Welterweight Rank 4 & 5 ~ Jack Gallagher vs. Darby Allin with Sage Sin Supreme vs. Will Ospreay
Darby attacked both men wildly, seemingly with no rhyme or reason. Will and Jack attacked him separately, deciding not to team like they had before. This led to Darby taking the lead, hitting both men with a series of quick attacks. He would hit a stunner on both men. All three men would hit dives to the outside, leading to Jack bringing out “William III” to dive from the top rope to the floor with it open. Back in the ring, Darby and Jack Gallagher would exchange attacks before Darby hit a Crucifix Driver that he flowed into a Last Supper getting the three-count. Ospreay quickly hit the Oscutter on Darby for a close two. Ospreay went for Essex Destroyer, but Darby held on and hit a northern lights suplex. Darby would attempt the Coffin Drop, but Ospreay got his knees up and hit a Storm Breaker. Sage Sin Supreme leaped in and attacked Ospreay, leading to the DQ.
Winner and ranked #4 = Will Ospreay in a total match time of 14:56 (ranked #5 = Darby Allin)
Darby and Sage would continue their assault on Will. The rest of "The Hive" rushed the ring and aided the beating, leading to Harlow beating him with a cane. They left Will motionless on the mat.
WILD Kudai Wood Symbol Match ~ #1 Contender IUC Tenkaichi Young Guns Championship ~ Jordan Oliver vs. Ace Austin vs. Willow Nightingale vs. Barclay Stockett vs. Dragon Bane vs. Yu Iizuka
Ace and Yu started off the match. Yu went for stiff strikes, while Ace used his agility to dodge and connect with a series of “snap” attacks. Willow slowed down the pace, hitting slams and plexes that allowed her to toll into submission holds. Bane and Oliver took the sky and performed amazing dives and flowing into various arm drags. Barclay tried to keep up with the high flyers, but was cut off various times. Oliver managed to take out most of everyone, hitting a moonsault from the top rope to the floor. Barclay looked for a dive as well, only for Yu to kick her in the back on the ropes. He then slingshot into the ring, hitting her with a roundhouse to back of the head to pick up the three-count.
Winner of the Kudai Wood Symbol & #1 Contender for the IUC Tenkaichi Young Guns title = Yu Iizuka by pinfall in 15:18
IUC World Indyweight Championship ~ Ruby Riot with Sarah Rowe & Liv Morgan vs. Jesse White with Eva Marie & Drake Destroyer
This match boiled down to speed versus power. Ruby could not match Jesse in a battle of strength, so she side stepped that, hitting him fast and dodging his hard hits. When Jesse did catch her, he was vicious, hitting her with various slams that looked like he could put her through the mat. Ruby would reverse his offense when he got too arrogant and held her in stalling moves for long periods of time. Outside, Eva would trip up Ruby various times when she started to build momentum. Drake would hold off Sarah and Liv when this occurred. Late in the match, Johnny Gargano came from the crowd and attacked Drake. This allowed Sarah and Liv to take out Eva. Drake and Johnny battled into the crowd as Liv and Sarah exchanged kicks and slaps on Eva. They would be jumped by Avalanche and Nick Comoroto. Meanwhile, Ruby tried to go for the Riot Kick, only for Jesse to catch her with a short-arm clothesline. He hit Ruby with a Jacknife Powerbomb, then followed up with a Vadersault to get the three-count.
Winner and NEW IUC World Indyweight Champion = Jesse White by pinfall in 12:39
After the match Eva, Nick, and Avalanche entered the ring. Eva was put on Jesse's shoulder, then was handed the World Indyweight title and the SWAT Catchweight Tag Team titles, which she held up to the chorus of boos from the crowd.
