Mauro Ranallo: "William, we both had the privilege of being there and calling the action! It was a fantastic journey that stretched out over the course of an entire day in sunny Florida, where twenty-four teams became one! There was a star-studded lineup in the crowd, backstage, and in the ring! What an event!"
Regal: "Indeed it was! Today, we'll be showing highlights of all the matches that led up to the spectacular finale! To get all this into one hour, we'll be joining all of our matches in progress.
Backstage Correspondents and Interviewers Cathy Kelley and Renee Young were dressed to impress in matching red outfits.
Ring Announcer Joseann Offerman was pretty in pink as well.
Backstage, "Four Horsewomen" Mercedes KV and Bayley Rose threw their support to friends "The Revival."
Match One ~ Bully Ray & D-Von Dudley vs. "The New Church" ("Priest of Punishment" Mikael Judas & Judgment with The Sinister Minister and "Priestess" Skyler Moon)
After a great back-and-forth contest, Judgment hit a "Yakuza Kick" on Ray, which led to "El Crucifejo" by Judas.
Winners = "The New Church" by pinfall in 8:48
Match Two ~ "The New Face of Fear" (Killian Dain & Alexander Wolfe with "Spirit of Abigail" Maria Kanellis) vs. "House of Truth" (Jay Lethal & Donovan Dijak with Turth Martini and "Hoopla Hotties" {Zahra and Dana})
"HoT" had things going their way until a distraction by Maria led to the "Double Powerbomb" finish on Dijak.
Winners = "The New Face of Fear" by pinfall in 6:36
Match Three ~ "Gold Standard" Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable with "Olympic Hero" Kurt Angle vs. "New Age Outlaws" (Road Dogg & Billy Gunn)
The first nostalgis act of "NAO" got the fans to their feet. They hit some of their signature offense. But, in the end, the younger and faster athletes prevailed after the "Powerbomb/Bulldog" combo got Road Dogg.
Winners = Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable by pinfall in 8:11
Match Four ~ "Worldwide Underground" (Johnny Mundo & "Darewolf" PJ Black with Taya) vs. "Team Little Big" ("The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman & "The Goddess" Alexa Bliss)
Mundo and Black were able to isolate Bliss and nearly won it several times. She finally evaded an attack and lunged to her corner for the tag. Strowman came in and cleaned house against his opponents. He double tackeld both men, then hit the "Running Powerslam" on Mundo while Bliss took out Black on the floor.
Winners = "Team Little Big" by pinfall in 9:18
Match Five ~ "Forgotten Sons" ("Universal Soldier" Gunner & "Southern Savior" Jon Skyler) vs. "The New Hart Foundation" (Teddy Hart & Brian Pillman, Jr.)
This was another fine back-and-forth struggle. Pillman's relative inexperience proved to be his downfall, as he mistimed a dive and fell victim to "PTSD" from Gunner.
Winners = "Forgotten Sons" by pinfall in 7:43
Match Six ~ Kota Ibushi & Angelico vs. "The Outsiders" ("The Bad Guy" Scott Hall & "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash)
The veterans proved they still had it against their younger and more athletic opponents. In fact, it looked like Hall and Nash may have had the match won. But, we'll never know as "Worldwide Underground" hit the ring and attacked Angelico and Ibushi, prompting the referee to call for the bell.
Winners = Kota Ibushi & Angelico by disqualification in 9:15
Hall and Nash were incensed and took out "WWU" with a big boot from Nash on Mundo. Hall hit "Razor's Edge" on Johnny while Nash nailed Black with the "Jackknife." The crowd responded in kind with the former "nWo" leaders.
Match Seven ~ 10 "The New Face of Fear" ("Eater of Worlds" Bray Wyatt & "Lost Sheep" Erick Rowan with "Spirit of Abigail" Maria Kanellis) vs. Ross & Marshall Von Erich
The first seeded team saw action in Wyatt and Rowan. They did not disappoint, decimating the brother Von Erich. After a "Chokebomb" from rowan, Ross fell victim to "Sister Abigail."
Winners = "The New Face of Fear" by pinfall in 5:54
Match Eight ~ 9 "Euro Trash" (Aleister Black & "The Villain" Marty Scurll with Joanna Rose) vs. Terence & Terell Hughes
The second seeded team was in action next against the twin sons of D-Von Dudley. The young trainees showed tremendous potential for the days after they graduate the "Show Time Dojo" developmental program. But, it was not to be today as "Black Mass" ended it.
Winners = "Euro Trash" by pinfall in 4:29
With that, the first round was complete. After a brief intermission, the second round commenced.
Match Nine ~ 1 "Glorious Outlaws" ("Glorious" Bobby Roode & "Outlaw" James Storm) with Maryse Ouellet vs. "The New Church" ("Priest of Punishment" Mikael Judas & Judgment with The Sinister Minister and "Priestess" Skyler Moon)
The top seeds were in action for the first time and having the first round bye really paid off. Their bigger opponents wore down much quicker than normal, which allowed for "DWI" against Judgment.
Winners = Bobby Roode & James Storm by pinfall in 7:49
Match Ten ~ 2 "The Revival" (Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson) with Jim Cornette vs. "The New Face of Fear" (Killian Dain & Alexander Wolfe with "Spirit of Abigail" Maria Kanellis)
This was the match of the tournament thus far. Dash and Dawson worked over their opponents, who are so big, strong, and tough. They kept coming back. But, the presence of Jim Cornette paid dividends. He snuck in a tennis racket shot to the ribs of Wolfe, which left him an easy target for "Shatter Machine."
Winners = "The Revival" by pinfall in 9:32
The fans were entertained by Kanellis chasing Cornette up the entrance after the match.
Match Eleven ~ 3 "Moustache Mountain" (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) vs. "Forgotten Sons" ("Universal Soldier" Gunner & "Southern Savior" Jon Skyler)
This was a highly entertaining match that nearly went the distance as both teams struggled for the win. Ultimately, the Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions used their "Clothesline/Dragon Suplex" combo to win it.
Winners = "Moustache Mountain" by pinfall in 14:32
Match Twelve ~ 4 Jimmy & Jey Uso with "The Bad Guy" Scott Hall vs. "Team Little Big" ("The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman & "The Goddess" Alexa Bliss)
Bliss never tagged in during the bulk of the match, as Strowman did not want her in harm's way against the dangerous Usos. Because of that, Strowman grew weary in the late stages of the battle. Bliss beckoned for a tag, but he refused. Eventually, it looked like the big man would come up short. He ate a double "Super Kick" and Jey Uso's "Superfly Leap." Before the referee could hit the mat for three, bliss made the save. She ate stereo "Super Kicks" for her trouble, but this gave Strowman time to get a breath and compose himself. He leveled both Usos with a double shoulder tackle, then hoisted Jimmy up for his "Running Powerslam" for the big upset.
Winners = "Team Little Big" by pinfall in 12:13
This was the end of the afternoon session. Only the first four seeds got the privilege of having second round matches early. The tournament completed in the evening session.
Match Thirteen ~ 5 "War Machine" ("WarBeard" Hanson & Raymond "Death" Rowe) vs. Kota Ibushi & Angelico*
Ibushi had been injured in the attack by "Worldwide Underground" and was not cleared to compete in the evening session. Angelico opted to go it alone against Hanson and Rowe instead of forfeiting the match. He could only muster a certain amount of offense against the formidable "War Machine." Three-quarters of the way into the bout, Jack Evans ran down to the ring in street clothes. He jumped up onto the apron the implored Angelico to tag him. Evans did get the tag and went into lightning mode, hitting rapid fire offense against his much larger opponents. He was cooking for a bit, but he eventually was overtaken. After "Fallout," it was over. Angelico was no help after all the punishment he had endured.
Winners = "War Machine" by pinfall in 8:54
Evans and Angelico got a standing ovation as they limped to the back.
Match Fourteen ~ 6 "Killer Elite Squad" (Davey Boy Smith, Jr. & Lance Hoyt) vs. "Gold Standard" Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable with "Olympic Hero" Kurt Angle
This was a fantastic match-up of two accomplished teams. They went at it tooth and nail. Once upon a time, Benjamin and "KES" were in the same faction over in Japan ("Suzuki-gun"). But, those days are over and the draw of a tournament victory and one million dollars were too much to maintain a friendship over in this one. Ultimately, "KES" flexed it's muscle with a "Killer Bomb" to Gable.
Winners = "Killer Elite Squad" by pinfall in 10:22
Match Fifteen ~ 7 "Sons of Steel" (Boomer Payne & Brice Anthony) vs. 10 "The New Face of Fear" ("Eater of Worlds" Bray Wyatt & "Lost Sheep" Erick Rowan with "Spirit of Abigail" Maria Kanellis)
Kanellis is known to get involved in matches. She gets easily riled up and cannot control her emotions. Typically, she has been devious enough not to get caught by officials. In this match, however, the referee turned around just in time to see her gouging the eyes of Brice Anthony, which prompted the bell.
Winners = "Sons of Steel" by disqualification in 11:36
After the match, Wyatt and Rowan laid out their opponents and walked away disgustedly.
Match Sixteen ~ 8 "The Insurgence" (Kevin Steen & Claudio Castagnoli) with Jim Cornette vs. 9 "Euro Trash" (Aleister Black & "The Villain" Marty Scurll with Joanna Rose)
From a technical standpoint, this was a master class. Both teams known the ring well and use every inch of it to their advantage. Cornette attempted interference on behalf of his men, but he was thwarted by Black, who spun around and hit "Black Mass" on the unsuspecting "Louisville Lip." Cornette crumpled to their floor. Steen went for a "Package Piledriver" on Black, but was hit with a top-rope "Sunset Flip" by Scurll that got the surprise pin.
Winners = "Euro Trash" by pinfall in 11:49
That closed out the second round and it was on to the quarterfinals. Due to the turnaround, "Euro Trash" was given a one-match respite and the next scheduled match went on before theirs.
Match Seventeen ~ 2 "The Revival" (Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson) with Jim Cornette vs. 7 "Sons of Steel" (Boomer Payne & Brice Anthony)
This was a tag team purist's dream match. The two most technically sound tandems in the company tore the house down. The teamwork was so precise, it was obvious that these four have been friends for longer than they've teamed. They are so in sync with their partners, it's scary sometimes. Ultimately, it looked like an upset. dash was set up for "Steel Curtain." Instead, Dawson chopblocked Payne and caused Anthony to miss his dive, sending him crashing to the canvas. A "Shatter Machine" later, and this one was in the books.
Winners = "The Revival" by pinfall in 15:37
Match Eighteen ~ 1 "Glorious Outlaws" ("Glorious" Bobby Roode & "Outlaw" James Storm) with Maryse Ouellet vs. 9 "Euro Trash" (Aleister Black & "The Villain" Marty Scurll with Joanna Rose)
With about a twenty-minute rest period in between matches, Black and Scurll were the worse for wear. They were worn out from their third match and a quick turnaround. Still, they fought hard and stayed in it. Aleister hit "Black Mass" on Roode, but could not get the pin because the referee was distracted by and argument on the floor between the female companions of both teams. Storm took advantage of the moment and "Super Kicked" a kneeling Black in the skull. He rolled Roode over on top for the cover and took out Scurll with another well-timed "Super Kick." The referee made the count and was none the wiser.
Winners = Bobby Roode & James Storm by pinfall in 13:28
Match Nineteen ~ 3 "Moustache Mountain" (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) vs. 6 "Killer Elite Squad" (Davey Boy Smith, Jr. & Lance Hoyt)
Seven endured quite a bit of punishment in this match. "KES" concentrated on his oft-injured left knee. Seven refused to give in, but he was a man on one leg against two dangerous individuals. Bate got in and used his superhuman strength to keep his opponents at bay. Eventually, the match broke down into a four-way melee. The referee was trying to get two combatants out of the ring. The legal men were Hoyt and Seven. Bate took he and Smith out of the ring with an over-the-top-rope "Clothesline." Hoyt went to pick up a downed Seven and got caught with a "Small Package" for the flash pin.
Winners = "Moustache Mountain" by pinfall in 14:47
Match Twenty ~ 5 "War Machine" ("WarBeard" Hanson & Raymond "Death" Rowe) vs. "Team Little Big" ("The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman & "The Goddess" Alexa Bliss)
Once again, Braun bore the lion's share of the responsibility in this one. He stayed in for basically the entire match against two fierce competitors. Braun began to tire quickly, but would not allow his partner, the only female in the tournament, to get into it against the large Hanson and Rowe. Eventually, she made the blind tag unbeknownst to her massive partner. Bliss struck early and often, but her offense was no match for "War Machine." Rowe initially would not strike Bliss until she slapped him. Then, he "Hiptossed" across the ring. Bliss begged off, but could not get to her corner to tag in Braun. she absorbed some more slams. Rowe and Hanson would not punch or kick her, instead opting to use more traditional wrestling moves against their female nemesis. Braun could take no more and plowed into the ring, running through both Hanson and Rowe while Bliss scurried away. he took Hanson out of the equation with a big boot that knocked him to the floor. He then hit a "Running Powerslam" on Rowe. As the referee was admonishing Braun to get back to his corner, Bliss had climbed to the top rope and hit "Twisted Bliss" on the prone Rowe for the upset to keep the win streak alive.
Winners = "Team Little Big" by pinfall in 12:43
That ended the quarterfinals and it was on to the semis.
Match Twenty-One ~ 2 "The Revival" (Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson) with Jim Cornette vs. 3 "Moustache Mountain" (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate)
Bate worked the bulk of the match due to Seven's injured knee. He fought gallantly, but he would not win the match alone. Trent got into the match and cooked for a while, but got taken out by a "Basement Dropkick" to the knee from Dawson. The dissection of the lame wheel was on at that point. Wilder applied an "Indian Deathlock" that nearly got the tapout before Seven got to the ropes. Finally, Dawson trapped Trent in a "Figure-Four Leglock" near he and Wilder's corner. Trent writhed in pain and ate implored him to fight on. Trent was forced to drag himself and Dawson near the ropes to break the hold, but Dash ran in and grabbed Dawson's hands, dragging them back over toward their corner. Bate had enough. He jumped in and took out Dash with a punch. The referee backed him up as Seven was reversing the hold. Dash grabbed Dawson's hand and turned them back over, putting the pressure back on Seven's knee. Bate stood on the apron and cheered his teammate on for quite some time. It became clear that Trent would not reverse the hold or get to the ropes. Bate, fearing permanent damage for his mentor and best friend, eventually threw one of "Moustache Mountain's" trademark towels into the ring. The referee acknowledged it and rang the bell.
Winners = "The Revival" by submission in 16:09
Match Twenty-Two ~ 1 "Glorious Outlaws" ("Glorious" Bobby Roode & "Outlaw" James Storm) with Maryse Ouellet vs. "Team Little Big" ("The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman & "The Goddess" Alexa Bliss)
Bliss demanded that she begin the match to take some of the heat off Braun for his work over the course of the tournament. Instead, he picked her up and sat her onto the apron outside the ropes and began the match. This time, Braun was determined to finish it early. He overpowered the NWA: Show Time Tag Team Champions. At one point early on, Bliss snuck into the ring and got a "Hurricanrana" on Storm that impressed Strowman, but he made her get back out of the ring. Eventually, Bliss made another blind tag on the weary Strowman and got into the ring. She hit some kicks and punches on Roode and Storm, who played defense initially. Finally, Storm had enough and nailed a "Super Kick" on Bliss that nearly took her out of her boots. Before he could get the pin, however, Braun made the diving save. The action broke down from there. Strowman and Roode ended up on the floor, where Braun bowled over Bobby with a "Running Shoulder Tackle." Meanwhile, Bliss attempted a "Flying Bodypress" on Storm. He rolled through and applied a pin attempt of his own. Storm grabbed Bliss' tights (nearly exposing her backside) after the one-count and held on for the tainted pinfall.
Winners = Bobby Roode & James Storm by pinfall in 13:29
After a twenty-minute final intermission, it was on to the championship round.
Match Twenty-Three ~ 1 "Glorious Outlaws" ("Glorious" Bobby Roode & "Outlaw" James Storm) with Maryse Ouellet vs. 2 "The Revival" (Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson) with Jim Cornette
The fans didn't really know which team to cheer, as they typically both are despised. So, they cheered the action, which was stellar. In the middle of the titanic battle, Maryse and Jim Cornette were thrown out of ringside after multiple occurrences of interference by both. The finals moments of the match were frenetic and breathtaking. The ending sequence played out like this. Storm and Dawson fought at ringside. Scott threw James into the ringside steps, rendering him helpless. Roode had Dash set for a second-rope "Blockbuster." As he went to dive, Dawson grabbed his leg, preventing it. Roode kicked him away after a short skirmish. Bobby went for the dive anyway, but Wilder had recovered and hit his portion of "Shatter Machine" on Roode to get the pin and win the tournament.
Winners and Crockett Cup Champions = "The Revival" by pinfall in 22:19
Cornette came sprinting down to the ring. Once he got in, he and his charges began to jump up and down in a group hug. The trophy was presented, as well as the $1,000,000 check. Cornette looked to have tears of joy in his eyes.
Regal: "Well Mauro, there you have it!"
Ranallo: "Momma Mia, what a day! What a tournament! Did 'The Revival' just prove that they're the best team in the business?!"
Regal: "It could be so. The Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions just ran through the entire roster of teams, including the number one seed and Tag Team Champions 'Glorious Outlaws.' It certainly appear they may be able to stake a claim as the number one tag team in the company, nay the world, for that matter! Fans, it was a fantastic day and night session indeed! Well, that's going to do it for us here this week. Please join us next Tuesday on TBS for more for the Show Time Power Hour! For Mauro Ranallo, I'm William Regal, saying ta ta for now!"
