NWA "Great American Bash" III

The following are results from the huge "Great American Bash" event that sold out Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA:

In the massive main event, "The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman defeated "The Beast" Brock Lesnar for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. He won it after surviving two brutal "F-5's." Strowman eventually hit three successive ""Running Powerslams" to get the first clean three-count on Lesnar since the NWA relaunch in 2015. Before the match, a "Tale of the Tape" graphic was shown.

During the match, each man threw everything but the kitchen sink at one another.

In the end, however, it was Strowman who held the championship high and soaked in the admiration from the crowd as the first man to undisputedly defeat Lesnar.

The World Tag Team Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe fought to a double countout against "The American Wolves," thus retaining the titles.

Matt Riddle won a controversial match against Johnny Gargano to retain the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Championship after his "Catch Point" brethren Fred Yehi interfered.

Makoto bested Faby Apache to hold onto her NWA World Women's Championship. Faby gave it an impressive run, but Makoto was up to the task.

Ethan Carter II shocked the fans by defeating Kevin Steen to become the NWA United States Heavyweight Champion, bringing that title back to American, as it were. The Canadian Steen and manager Jim Cornette were hopping mad at the officiating, as Steen hit his "Package Piledriver" and had Carter down for many seconds. The referee had been inadvertently struck down and could not make the pin count. He did see Carter hit "The One Percenter," which was counted for the win.

"Dirty Business" barely held onto their NWA United States Tag Team Championship against the fearsome "War Machine" tandem. "DB" manager Brittany Blake introduced a steel chair into the mix. Cornelius Crummels fooled the referee into thinking he had been struck with the chair by Raymond Rowe. The referee promptly called for the bell and awarded the champions the disqualification victory. The fans were none too pleased.

Mercedes Martinez earned a hard-fought win in defense of the NWA United States Women's Championship against game competitor Sera Feeney.

NWA: Stars & Stripes "Six-Person Tag Team" match

"Youth Gone Wild" (Ace Austin, Liv Morgan, & Hawlee Layne)
vs.
"Los Sicarios" (Trey Miguel, Dezmond Xavier, & Zachary Wentz)

Dezmond, Wentz, and Trey went crazy with dives over the top rope, almost seeming to make spots for them to jump into. Austin, Morgan, and Layne were amazing in their pulling off of double and triple-team moves that kept them in the match. "YGW" would hit Trey with a "Double Assisted Spike Cash Flo," but only got a two when Wentz broke up the pin. Wentz and Dezmond forced Morgan and Layne onto the floor, where Trey "Moonsaulted" onto them. Wentz and xavier hit the "Pushing Star Press" on Ace to get the win. After the match, "Los Sicarios" started to beat on Liv, Hawlee, and Ace, until "Crazy" Mary Dobson ran out with a Kendo Stick, hitting Wentz and Xavier. The rest of "Sicarios" abandoned ring. They pulled Wentz and Xavier out. Mary knelt to check on Liv, Hawlee, and Ace. They slowly got to their feet and all stood together, daring "Los Sicarios" to come back to the ring.

NWA: HAWK "Eight-Woman Tag Team" match

"Joshi Idol" (Maki Ito, Ma Chia-ling, Megu Taniguchi, & Saya "Momo" Kawamoto)
vs.
"British Bombshells" (Charlie Morgan & Zoe Lucas), Candyfloss, and a mystery partner

"Joshi Idol" were standing in the ring with Morgan, Lucas, and Floss waiting beside the ring.

Xia Brookside came out to a huge pop from the crowd. She joined Lucas, Morgan, and Floss. They dubbed themselves "british World order (bWo)." This was a battle of the technically savvy and the technically learning. While Ito directed her team with excellent precision, the well traveled "bWo" was just so dominant. While Chia amd Megu had many great double-teams, Lucas and Morgan battled back with even stronger double-teams, seeing a "Spike Backbreaker" on Saya. Floss and Brookside also managed to pull off amazing double-teams, including a "Body Splash/Suplex" combination. Chia, Maki, and Megu battled back with a "Double Stack Suplex" and top rope "Diving Crossbody." Saya also fought back, locking each of "bWo" in a "Texas Cloverleaf" submission. Even though they battled hard, "Joshi Idol" still was outdone. It was a "RamPaige/Thez Press" combination from Lucas and Morgan on Megu that got the three-count, while Xia and Floss held off the other three.

WILD "Gauntlet" match

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
vs.
"Supernova" Noam Dar, Eddie Kingston, & Big E Langston

AJ and Noam Started off. These two were amazing in the ring, showing off speed and high impact. Noam managed to kick out of the "Phenomenal Forearm," escape the "Calf Crusher," and even reversed the "Styles Clash" into a near fall. Noam, at various times, managed to roll AJ into two-counts. Noam would lock in the "Champagne Super Kneebar," but AJ was able to crawl to the ropes. When he tried again, AJ managed to get an "Inside Cradle," then he flowed into a "Styles Clash" for the three-count. After a brief wait, Eddie Kingston made his way to the ring and immediately started his attack on the weakened AJ. If AJ went for a flying move, Eddie was able to catch him with a "Suplex" or a stiff strike. Eddie barely took any offense. AJ ducked "Backfist to the Future," but the ref took the hit. Eddie then hit AJ with "Backfist to the Future," knocking him out cold. But while both The ref and AJ were down, Jeff Cobb ran down to the ring. He and Kingston would exchange strikes, with Kingston winning the exchange. Eddie missed "Backfist to the Future" and got caught with the "Athletic-Plex" and then the "Tour of the Islands." The ref and AJ would come to. AJ slowly crawled over to Kingston to make the one-armed cover that got him the three. After a few more moments, AJ was barely able to get to his feet, then Big E came dancing down to the ring. As soon as Big E got into the ring, AJ rushed him. Big E would level him with a "Clothesline" and dominate the match. AJ showed the wear and tear from his previous two battles and was just beaten down by Big E. Big E would hit the "BEL Bomb" and get the three. After the medal ceremony, "Perfect Destruction" ran down and destroyed Big E and AJ. They would beat on them until Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods rushed to the ring and ran them off.

Ricochet successfully defended his NWA: Show Time Mid-Atlantic Championship against former titlist CM Punk, after Punk's wife and Ricochet's manager AJ Lee held Punk's legs during a Ricochet pin attempt. Punk jumped up and berated his wife, who kissed him on the cheek and reminded him, "It's just business. Love you babe!," as she skipped off with Ricochet.

The first match of the card was a frenetic "Fatal Four-Way Elimination" match for the NWA: Femme Fatales Tag Team Championship, that was the very definition of a "hot opener." The first team eliminated was "Fire-n-Nice," after they collided with one another and Britt Baker was rolled up by Syuri. Next to go was Shida and Syuri themselves, as Hikaru Shida fell victim to Mercedes KV's "Backstabber" that bounced her up into a "Bayley-to-Belly" for the pin. The last two teams fought for quite some time, with KV finally tapping out to the "Kana Lock" to give us new champions.

All in all, this was an event that lived up to the hype and had the approval of the over 70,000 in attendance.
