William Regal: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the finest sixty minutes of pro wrestling in the world, the Show Time Power Hour! I'm your host, William Regal. With me are Michael Hayes and Jim Cornette! Guys, we are only four days away from Winter WonderSlam 2K17!"
Michael Hayes: "You got it, Billy boy! It's going to be off the hook!"
Jim Cornette: "It should be a great card, but I am still upset that 'Camp Cornette' is not represented!"
Regal: "Funny you should say that, Jim. I was handed a note by our producer as we were about to go on air. He said it came straight from Commissioner Flair. It says that two matches have been added to the card, which will be presented during a special free 'pre-event kickoff' on the NWA: Show Time website. Now, NWA: Femme Fatales gets one of those two matches and they will announce theirs on Thursday. But, it looks like 'The Revival' will be defending the Tag Team Championship against Mikael Judas and Mordecai of 'The New Church!' You got your wish, Jim! 'Camp Cornette' is on the card!"
Cornette: "Well, I guess it's something! Now, I've gotta go find Dash and Dawson and let them know what's going on! They only have four days to prepare for those monsters!"
Cornette left the commentary booth and headed to the back.
Regal: "Well, I guess it's Michael and I for the time being."
Hayes: "Just like old times!"
Regal: "Indeed. We have a fine episode tonight. We will have a 'Cruiserweight Rumble' to determine the next challenger to face Kota Ibushi! We'll also have The Rock in action tonight in our main event, as he defends the Mid-Atlantic Championship against Ricochet! What a program it will be! Let's get it started with this staggered entry 'Battle Royal' featuring the Cruiserweights!"
Match One ~ "Cruiserweight Rumble (staggered entry 'Battle Royal')" ~ Zack Sabre, Jr., Jack Evans, Johnny Mundo, "Darewolf" PJ Black, "The Man Gravity Forgot" Adrian Neville, Solomon Crowe, Hangman Page, Jonathan Gresham, Trent Seven, "Bruiserweight" Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, "Bonafide" Fred Yehi, "No Fly" Drew Gulak, "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams, Colton Piper, Richie Steamboat, David Benoit, & Brian Pillman, Jr.
It was nice to see a couple of trainees and "Show Time Dojo" graduates in the mix. Sabre and Evans started the match and lit it up for five minutes until the rest of the competitors began entering every minute thereafter. At one point, twelve men were in the ring at the same time and there was plenty of chaos. The final four competitors were Sabre, Evans, Bate, and Crowe. Evans and Crowe inadvertently eliminated each other after a "Crossbody Press" gone awry. That left Brits Sabre and Bate to tangle. They went at it in the traditional European style of smash mouth strikes and stiff kicks, each trying to wear the other out. Sabre started to fade, as he literally had been in the entire match. Bate was relentless in his pressure. Sabre fought him off valiantly. after nearly a half-hour, both men were like wounded warriors fighting for their lives, standing toe-to-toe and trading blows. Bate got the upper hand and went for his coup de grace, the "Tyler Driver '97." When he set in the double underhook and hoisted Sabre up, Zack wedged his feet underneath the top rope to keep from being slammed down to the mat. Tyler tried to pull him off the ropes. The momentum from this maneuver actually sent Tyler backward, catapulting he and Sabre over the tope rope at the same time. The two referees for the match could not agree on whose feet hit the floor first. One official raised Sabre's hand, while the other raised Bate's. There was mass confusion and the fans voiced their disapproval.
Winner = no contest in 29:47
Regal: "So, we went through all of that for no winner?!"
Hayes: "Come on, refs! Figure it out!"
Cornette: "This is terrible officiating, as usual!"
Commissioner Ric Flair came out and grabbed a microphone.
Ric Flair: "So, who's the winner?!"
The referees still could not agree.
Flair: "You guys are useless! Here's what's going to happen! Since these two went over the top rope at the same time, they'll both get a shot against Ibushi in a 'Three-Way Dance' two weeks from now! "the Commissioner has spoken! WOOOO!"
Regal: "That solves that! Now, what kind of brilliant match will that be in two weeks?!"
Hayes: "They're gonna tear the house down!"
Cornette: "It should be a barnburner between those three 'spot monkeys.' It'll be a 'smart mark's' dream match!"
Regal: "Really, Jim? Fans, we need to take a commercial break. We'll be back with our big main event next!"
Regal: "We're back! Fans, before we go back to the ring, we have a video package about the big World Championship 'Steel Cage' match at Winter WonderSlam between Bray Wyatt and Brock Lesnar. Let's take a look at the rivalry between these two, which stretches back over a year."
A video retrospective aired, chronicling the history of the Bray Wyatt-Brock Lesnar feud, which began shortly before Starrcade 2K16 and continues today. We saw Wyatt win the championship from Lesnar (becoming the first man to defeat him in his NWA career). We saw Lesnar's controversial rematches that ended without clean victories. We saw Bray Wyatt's arrival to NWA: Show Time, where he very quickly singled Lesnar out. We saw the "Three-Way Dance" and the massive interference that led to this rematch. All told, the retrospective was nearly five minutes in length.
Regal: "That really puts this intense feud into perspective. Saturday's match might blow the roof off the Greensboro Coliseum! Fans, it's time for our Mid-Atlantic Championship main event! Let's go to the ring!"
Match Two ~ NWA: Show Time Mid-Atlantic Championship ~ The Rock with Eve Torres vs. "King" Ricochet
Before the match, The Rock grabbed a microphone.
The Rock: "Finally, The Rock has come back to Charlotte! You see, with The Rock being a big time movie star and a big time pro wrestler, he has to split his time between both worlds. One world is pure fantasy, where The Rock plays a character and gets paid very well to do it. The other is as real as it gets, and The Rock gets paid very well to do that too! Ricochet, it seems, is living in a fantasy world of his own if he thinks he can defeat the most electrifying man in the sport! Ricochet wants to go one on one with 'The Great One!' well, The Rock has an early Christmas present for you! The Rock's gonna take this big ole size thirteen, shine it up real nice, turn it sideways, and stick it straight up your candy a**! If ya smeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllll what The Rock is cookin'!"
Ricochet shook his head and laughed. Once the bell rang, he moved with catlike quickness and laser precision. The Rock had obviously taken Ricochet lightly as a challenger. The Rock eventually gathered himself and took over, but he could not put Ricochet away. The Rock grew more frustrated as the match wore on. He was beginning to tire himself out trying to beat Ricochet up. Ricochet slowly made his comeback. He then caught fire. He was running full steam ahead when he attempted a dive and the referee took the hit by mistake. Adam Cole came running out to the ring and attacked Ricochet. Cole and The Rock began to double team him. CM Punk then ran to the ring and chased off Cole as the referee came to his senses. The Rock then set up for a "Rock Bottom." As he hoisted Ricochet up, it was reversed into a "Small Package" that got the surprise pin.
Winner and NEW NWA: Show Time Mid-Atlantic Champion = Ricochet by pinfall in 22:39
Regal: "What a match and what a win for Ricochet, taking down the legendary Rock!"
Hayes: "I've told you time and time again, he's one of the best in the world!"
Cornette: "He shouldn't even be the champion right now! He should have been disqualified for barreling into the referee!"
Regal: "Oh Jim, you know that was unintentional! Nevertheless, he is the new Mid-Atlantic Champion! Wow! What an episode we've had! Winter WonderSlam is going to be fantastic! Fans, please go to www.nwashowtime.com right now to order the live stream of the big event, and to watch Cathy Kelley present After Buzz as soon as we sign off. Join us again next Tuesday on TBS for more of the Show Time Power Hour! For Michael Hayes and Jim Cornette, I'm William Regal, saying ta ta for now!"
NWA: Show Time After Buzz with Cathy Kelley aired as normal.
Kelley ran down the entire known card, with the exception of the yet-to-be-announced Femme Fatales offering for the pre-event kickoff. Kelley's enthusiasm makes fans of us all. She sold each match individually as the attraction that it is. Ricochet came by for a post match interview with the Mid-Atlantic Championship in his grasp. He was ecstatic to have defeated The Rock. CM Punk and AJ Lee joined him for a congratulatory salute. Kelley signed off at that point.
