So I'll be going back and watching some Smoky Mountain Wrestling for the first time over the coming months (data permitting) and I'll give a bit of a recap of what went down in the Promotion in this here thread.
First off before anybody asks me why I don't do more of a write up on Episode 1. Here's why. I didn't get the idea to cover my thoughts on the promotion until I was watching Episode 2, and I don't feel like going back and rewatching Episode 1. As I recall Robert Gibson of the Rock 'n Roll Express beat some jobber, "Prime Time" Brian Lee beat some jobber and was criticized by Dutch Mantell which began a war of words between them which would escalate in the coming weeks...that's the main things I remember from Episode 1. But now onward to what most of the thread will be. A match by match breakdown of the Smoky Mountain Wrestling series.
Episode 2
Match 1: "Hollywood" Bob Holly vs Tim Fry - Yes that's right it's THAT Bob Holly the one you all know as Sparkplug or Hardcore Holly of WWF/E fame. Well here he's having a match with a jobber. Pretty decent little match, nothing special, but I do enjoy Holly's finisher here coming off the top rope with the knee drop.
2.5 star match to open up the show.
Match 2: "Mr Wonderful" Paul Orndorff vs "Hustler" Rip Rogers - The Veteran Orndorff is in against this silly character Rip Rogers, but don't judge a book by it's cover because Rogers puts up a pretty decent fight...in the end though Orndorff is too crafty for Rogers and he takes advantage of an attempted sunset flip to get the pin on him.
2 star match
Match 3: "Dirty" Dutch Mantell vs Scott Armstrong - Nothing special here. This was all just a part of a storyline to keep building things between Mantell and Brian Lee more than anything. The match consists of Mantell kicking the crap out of Armstrong most of the way, Armstrong gets the upper hand briefly which causes Mantell to resort to using his bullwhip and getting himself DQ'd. He then proceeds to whip Armstrong prompting "Prime Time" Brian Lee to run in the ring because he don't like what he sees. Mantell exits the ring, gets on the Mic and says Lee better mind his own business, and it is soon announced that the main event next week will be Mantell vs Brian Lee.
Match not worth rating. It was a storyline match, not meant to be great nor good, just adequate.
Match 4: Ivan & Vladimir Koloff vs The Fantastics (Jackie and Bobby Fulton) - Pretty good match between 3 veteran wrestlers and the younger Vladimir who I'm not too familiar with, but he performed well here and didn't seem out of place in the match. Good old fashioned tag match where the heel team The Koloffs keep one of the Fulton's in the ring most of the match and kick the shit out of him until he's finally able to get the hot tag. After another few minutes of a good tussle the Fantastics are able to get the pin.
3 star match
And other than some promos that range some God awful to Mediocre. That's Episode 2.

Episode 3
Match 1: "Hollywood" Bob Holly vs Pat Rose - Bob Holly opens up the show for us again against another jobber. This time a fat jobber. Rose makes a decent match of it, but ultimately can't compete with the more gifted Bob Holly, and falls victim to the flying knee drops just like Tim Fry in the previous week.
2 star match
Match 2: "Hustler" Rip Rogers vs "Jumpin' Joey Maggs - What's this? A battle of jobbers? Well That Rip Rogers that I assumed I'd only see getting beaten by Orndorff is back again, and this time he gets the W over Joey Maggs in a decent little match.
2 star match
Match 3: Robert Gibson vs The Mighty Yankee - Pretty much a dull "Paint by the Numbers" match. Gibson gets the W over the jobber Yankee who knows just enough to make it look half decent.
1 star match
Match 4: Tim Horner vs Barry Horowitz - A surprisingly good match I thought. Horner is god awful on the mic, but thankfully he's not as awful in the ring. Nothing to write home about, but it's the best match on this particularly broadcast for what that's worth.
2.5 star match
Match 5: "Dirty" Dutch Mantell vs "Prime Time" Brian Lee - Decent match. Certainly leaves you left with a "This ain't over" feeling. I think the ending is pretty funny here with Brian Lee knocking out Mantell with brass knuckles that Mantell attempted to use on him. He gets the pin, but leaves the brass knuckles on his hand. The referee sees them as they're just clearly on his hand, and DQ's him giving the win to Mantell.
1.5 star match
And that's Episode 3
