Tsuruta-Gun (Jumbo Tsuruta, Akira Taue, & Masanabu Fuchi)
Vs
Super Generation Army (Mitsuharu Misawa, Toshiaki Kawada, & Kenta Kobashi)
There’s a couple of these legendary six-man tags on this set, and the guy who put it together said that he could probably fill ten DVDs with just six-man matches of Misawa & Co. Vs Jumbo & Co. Tenryu is gone by this point, having formed SWS.This is from Korakuen Hall, and was the main event during the October Giant Series in 1990. Taue starts with Kobashi, and he starts shit with Kawada right away, kicking him off the apron. Kenta grabs a wristlock, and he drags Taue to his corner, and here comes Kawada. Kawada looks like he wants to murder him slowly. He just kicks him to the mat, and Taue slides to his corner. Misawa comes in and plants him with a dropkick, so he falls back and tags Jumbo. The crowd chants for Misawa, and he and Jumbo just start exchanging forearms. Big knee from Jumbo, and he gets a couple of gut shots in. They go to the corner, and Fuchi tags in. He puts the boots to Misawa, briefly, then tags Taue back in. Taue grabs an abdominal stretch, but Kawada breaks that up. Kobashi comes in, and he gets dragged into Taue’s corner, where Jumbo tags in. Jumbo turns Kobashi over into a Boston Crab, eventually releasing it and bringing Fuchi back in. Fuchi hits a dropkick, then chops. Kobashi with a second rope cross body for 2. Big clothesline! Spinning back kick by Kawada, and they go to the floor. Taue slams Kawada there. Back in, and Jumbo starts working Kawada’s back with forearms and slams. Kawada fires back, but can’t get any offense. Fuchi hits a backdrop suplex, then gets a Boston Crab, but he releases one leg. They continue on Kawada’s back, but he tags Misawa, who nails Taue with a clothesline. Taue gets knocked out of the ring, and Kawada just kicks the dogshit out of him, then slams him on the floor. Back in, and Kawada hits a gut wrench. Kobashi grabs a Boston Crab, but turns it into a half-crab. Fuchi comes in and breaks that up, or tires at least. Jumbo tries, but Kobashi releases it and clotheslines him. They stay on Taue’s back with each guy doing his part. Kobashi with a power slam for 2. Taue hits him with a DDT and makes a tag to Jumbo, who kills Kobashi with a lariat. Neckbreaker, and Jumbo throws Kobashi to the floor, where Fuchi runs him to the railing. Back in, and Fuchi pummels him, and Kobashi is bleeding hardway from his nose. Taue, like a dick, stomps his face. Atomic drop, and Taue holds on and hits a suplex. Enziguiri to the face by Fuchi gets 2. Jumbo just starts kicking him in the face, then he hits the lariat for a long 2. Kobashi fires back, hitting a spin kick, but he just can’t make the tag. Taue with a bulldog, and that gets 2. Samoan drop gets 2 for Taue. Kobashi floats over on a suplex, gets one of his own, and makes the red-hot tag to Kawada, who gets cut right off by Taue. He kicks Taue in the face, but shoves the ref out of the way, and gets clotheslined. Jumbo comes in, and Kawada ducks a clothesline and tags Misawa, and the crowd is going insane. Misawa hits a flying headbutt from like 2/4 of the ring away. That gets 2. Jumbo with the big kick to Misawa. He can’t get the suplex, and he and Misawa brawl to the floor, where Taue hits a plancha on Misawa. Misawa and Taue start trading shots mid-ring, but Misawa tags Kobashi, who eats a clothesline for 2. He hits a running kick for 2, but gets powerslammed for 2. Fuchi dropkicks him, then Kobashi gets a rolling cradle for 2. Kobashi hits Fuchi with a moonsault for 2. Kobashi with a bridging German on Fuchi for 2 as everyone brawls on the floor. Jumbo tags in and clotheslines Kobashi. He nails Misawa, then powerbombs Kobashi for 2. Jumbo goes for the Saito suplex, but Kobashi reverses into a pin for 2. Everyone starts fighting, and Jumbo suplexes Kobashi from the top for 2. He hits the Saito suplex on Kobashi for the pin to end it. That might have been the best six-man I’ve ever seen. Vs
Super Generation Army (Mitsuharu Misawa, Toshiaki Kawada, & Kenta Kobashi)
This match is also from Korakuen Hall, and might very well be the greatest six-man tag team match ever wrestled. It was part of All-Japan’s Fan Appreciation Day, and hot damn, did they burn the place down with this one. Kobashi and Taue start, and Taue just walks over and slaps Kawada on the apron. That’s some serious shit right there. He clotheslines Kobashi, then Kawada off the apron. Jumbo and Misawa come in, and the chanting for Misawa is nuts. They exchange shots for a while, and Jumbo takes control with a knee to the stomach. Fuchi tags in, but Misawa reverses an abdominal stretch on him. Taue breaks that up and cheap – shots Kawada and Kobashi on the apron. Jumbo tries to cave in Misawa’s head with knees, but Misawa comes off the second rope with a headbutt and tags Kobashi. He controls Jumbo, getting a legdrop for 2. Jumbo slams him and tags in Fuchi. Fuchi works Kobashi’s arm, and they take turns on that for a while in the Tsuruta corner. Kawada has had enough and just starts kicking Taue. They start fighting on the mat, and the ref can’t separate them, he stomps the FUCK out of Taue, who looks dazed legit. Kobashi continues the beating, and Taue turtles under the bottom rope. Piledriver gets 2. Side slam by Misawa gets 2, then he goes to a chinlock to set up the next sequence. Kawada comes in and gets a half – crab. Fuchi comes in to break it and Kawada lets it go and flips him off. Misawa comes in and floors Taue with a hard forearm, then tags Kobashi in, and he clotheslines Taue in the corner. Misawa hits a baseball slide dropkick behind the ref’s back, then does a rocket launcher to the outside with Kobashi. Back in, and Kobashi goes for a suplex, but Fuchi dropkicks his knee and gets the hot tag. He gets after Kobashi’s knee with laser focus while Taue recovers on the outside. Fuchi sends Kobashi to the floor, and Jumbo works him over, sending him to the crowd. The crowd chants for Kobashi, and he gets a brief flurry, but Jumbo cuts him off with a stomp to the knee. Lariatoo! That gets 2 for Jumbo. Kobashi fires back, but his knee gives out, so Fuchi kicks him and locks in an STF. Kobashi makes the ropes, but Fuchi goes right to the knee again. Taue comes in and gets a super – bendy grapevine, then Jumbo gets a slam and a half – crab, but they’re still too close to the ropes. Kobashi gets a flash sunset flip for 2, but Jumbo cuts him off again, driving his knee into the mat a couple of times. Jumbo dumps Kobashi to the floor, and Taue gives him a knee crusher on the railing and hits him with a chair there. Kobashi counters a Saito suplex for 2, but can’t make the tag. Jumbo just keeps on his knee, getting a kneebar. Taue comes off the top onto Kobashi’s knee, and Kawada and Misawa look concerned. Actually, Misawa looks puzzled, because his eyebrows are so thick that he always looks puzzled. Kobashi counters a suplex by Fuchi, but they keep him in their half of the ring. Jumbo hits the big boot, but Kobashi won’t go up for the Powerbomb. Kawada kicks Jumbo, but Kobashi STILL can’t make the tag. Another knee crusher by Taue, and he gets a half – crab. Kobashi makes the ropes again, and I’ve never, ever seen a heat segment this long in a six – man. Fuchi goes for a knee crusher, but Kobashi elbows out and FINALLY tags Kawada. He tries to kill Fuchi with chops, eventually getting 2. Misawa comes in but gets cut off by Fuchi right away. Jumbo comes in and hits a jumping knee for 2. Misawa goes dead weight on the powerbomb, but Jumbo gets it for 2 ½. Double – team off the top by Taue gets 2. Taue gets an over – the – shoulder backbreaker, but Misawa flips out of it.
