The inaugural episode of NWA: World of Wrestling took place in Staples Center in los Angeles, California. It was broadcast live on the USA Network, which became the first non-WWE wrestling telecast in USA channel history.
The NWA "Legends of the Squared Circle" Consulting Group played hosts of the event, with Jerry "The King" Lawler as its spokesman. He welcomed the 20,000 or so boisterous fans to the event. He acknowledged that the ring announcer for the evening would be the legendary Michael Buffer (Mr. "Let's Get Ready to Rumble!"). The main commentary team would be made up of hall of famer and NWA: Show Time Special Event Commentator "Good Ole" Jim Ross, Matt Striker, and Mauro Ranallo (NWA: DFW requested to use the announce team of Doc and Mac for its segment).
NWA: Femme Fatales Commentator Melissa Santos was introduced to several thousand cat calls. She called NWA: UCHW's Pentagon, Jr. to the ring for an interview. Pentagon sauntered to the ring with great relish, soaking in the chants of "Cero meido (zero fear)!," which has been his mantra for years.
Melissa Santos: "I'd like to welcome Pentagon, Jr. Pentagon, you have always been a dangerous competitor in Mexico and in Lucha Underground. Now that you are part of the NWA, what are your plans?"
Pentagon, Jr. (understands English, but chooses not to speak it): "Mi plan es el mismo en todas partes que voy. ¡Destrucción (My plan is the same everywhere I go. Destruction)!"
Santos: "You have already made a name for yourself in NWA: UHCW. You've also made enemies. Namely, Jack Evans."
Pentágon, Jr. tiene cero miedo (Jack Evans was a necessary sacrifice to my master. He is one of a long list of bodies I will stack up on my path to the top! I have never been concerned with enemies. To worry about enemies is a sign of fear. Pentagon, Jr. has zero fear)!"
Just then, Jack Evans came out of the crowd and attacked Pentagon, Jr. The two fought into the crowd and all the way to the backstage area. Security Officers eventually separated them. As they were shouting at one another, Evans could be heard screaming, "An arm for an arm!"
Match one ~ NWA: HAWK Rules ~ Charlotte vs. Alpha Female
The match itself was fierce. Neither competitor went for a pin for several minutes. They were simply trying to hurt each other with vicious strikes and release-style "Suplexes." Each tried to lock in submissions, but the other managed to escape. Alpha gained the upper hand for a time. She readied herself for the "OmegaPlex," when Alexa Bliss ran out and attacked her. Bliss and Charlotte double teamed Alpha, which lead to Charlotte hitting "Natural Selection" for the win.
Winner = Charlotte by pinfall in 9:42
Bliss and Charlotte continued to beat down Alpha. An unidentified woman came flying out of the dressing room and joined the fight. She cleaned house, then took off her ball cap and sunglasses to reveal herself to be "Show Time Dojo" trainee Ariel Toombs. The crowd gasped with surprise.
Jim Ross: "What a turn of events we've seen in the first match! Alexa Bliss gave the huge assist to Charlotte for the win. Out of nowhere, Ariel Toombs, the daughter of 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper and trainee with my company, shows up and runs them off. What is her connection to Alpha Female?!"
Matt Striker: "I'm not sure, and I don't think anyone else is, judging from the crowd reaction!"
Mauro Ranallo: "Momma Mia! That was a surprise, if I've ever seen one!"
Toombs and Alpha Female stood tall and beckoned Charlotte and Alexa Bliss back into the ring as the program went to commercial.
After the break, the announcers went back to the ring for match two.
Match Two ~ NWA: UHCW "Random Draw" Tag Team match ~ Kota Ibushi & Zack Sabre, Jr. vs. Mil Muertes & Son of Havoc with Catrina
This match was wild and wooly from the opening bell, as none of the four have teamed together before. Ibushi and Sabre, whom are to of the brightest stars in the sport, had a bit of trouble working together. There seemed to be some sort of professional jealousy between them. Every time one of them popped off a great maneuver, the other seemed to insist upon "one-upping" it. The end came after Ibushi nailed a "Phoenix-Plex" on Havoc, then scaled the ropes to hit his "Golden Star Press." Sabre tagged himself in and dropped Havoc with the "Sabre Driver" for the pin as Muertes and Catrina walked away from their partner.
Winners = Kota Ibushi & Zack Sabre, Jr. by pinfall in 12:03
Ibushi and Sabre argued about the closing sequence of the match as they went back to the dressing room.
Ross: "What a fantastic match. But, it seemed as if Kota Ibushi and Zack Sabre, Jr. have some personal issues with one another."
Striker: "There definitely seemed to be a 'measuring contest' of sorts between the two."
Ranallo: "They both seem to want to establish themselves as the dominant male of their territory. I wouldn't mind seeing the two of them go at it!"
Ross: "Fans, we'll be back in just a few moments!"
Match Three ~ NWA: Stars & Stripes ~ Michael Façade & "Los Ice Creams"--Ice Cream, Jr. and El Hijo del Ice Cream vs. "Team Big League"--John McChesney, Joseph Brooks, & Jimmy Nutts
The match never got under way as "Dead Wrestling Society" and "Hardcore Ninjaz" attack with chairs, light tubes, and canes. All six are left laying on the mat and the floor.
Ross: "By Gawd, everyone is trying to make a statement here tonight! What a first episode!"
Striker: "'Dead Wrestling Society' and 'Hardcore Ninjaz' have decimated six men right before our eyes! What a bloodbath!"
Ranallo: "This night is getting more violent by the second!"
Ross: "Well, it's going to get even more violent, as the NWA: DFW Hardcore Champion The Butcher is about to compete. We're going to throw it over to the DFW announcing crew of Doc and Mac after the break! Stay with us for more NWA: World of Wrestling!"
Mac: "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm Mac, and this is my partner Doc. We're the broadcast team for NWA: DFW. Tonight, we have a special treat, as the Hardcore Champion, The Butcher, is making a rare public appearance to compete!"
Doc: "That's right, Mac! We've rounded him up!"
Mac: "For the first time since he won the Hardcore Title, The Butcher is in the building."
Doc: "With the 24/7 rule in effect, he went into seclusion, but asked for a warm-up match to get ready for the now deranged Magnitude Kishiwada at 'Ascendance.'"
Match Four ~ "NWA: DFW Hardcore" match ~ The Butcher vs. Abyss
A cameraman was with the Butcher in his dressing room. As The Butcher was preparing to exit, the door exploded off its hinges and came flying at him.
Magnitude charged at the door with such insane force, he knocked it clean off the wall.
Mac: "What the h***?!"
Doc: "Kishiwada's hatred for Butcher is so fierce, he's not going to wait for the CPV."
Butcher didn't know what hit him when Magnitude grabbed him by the head and started ramming him repeatedly into the steel lockers. Magnitude was looking for anything he could use as a weapon. Kishiwada grabbed one of the weighted plates off the bench press and hurled it, but Butcher ducked and the plate shattered the glass door of the shower into pieces. Butcher got out of the locker room with Magnitude in pursuit. They brawled into the parking lot. Kishiwada ripped off the door of someone's car and bludgeoned Butcher with the car door.
Mac: "Magnitude has gone insane!"
Doc: "Perhaps, and it doesn't look like he's done yet."
Kishiwada dropped the car door, goozled Butcher, and "Chokeslammed" him on the hood of a car. Kishiwada still was not done. He climbed up on the hood of another car. He ran across them to where Butcher was laying and "Curb Stomped" him through the windshield. As The Butcher slowly got up, he turned around to get a fireball thrown in his face.
Winner = no contest
Mac: "Somebody call 911!"
Kishiwada grabed the Hardcore Title and a microphone.
Magnitude Kishiwada: "The last time we met, you put me through a flaming table. So, how does it feel to be burned? I could pin you and take this right here, right now. But, that would be too easy. I want you to suffer. This is only a fraction of what I'm going to do at 'Ascendance.' So, I'll see you on Sunday, where I'll take back what's mine and send you to join Vampire Samurai. There's a coma in your future."
Doc: "This man has truly gone off the deep end!"
Mac: "Needless to say tonight's Hardcore match has been cancelled."
Doc: "Who knows if Butcher will even be able to make it to the CPV?"
Necro Butcher came out to help his friend.
As an unknown man watched from the shadows, he uttered, "I'll see you all on Sunday."
Mac: "Who the h*** was that guy?!"
Doc: "I don't know, but it sounds like we'll find out at 'Ascendance.'"
Mac: "Back to you guys, Jim!"
Ross: "Thanks, Mac! What a volatile situation they have over at DFW with Magnitude Kishiwada and The Butcher!"
Striker: "I'll be tuning in this Sunday to 'Ascendance' for what it sure to be a phenomenal night of action!"
Ranallo: "I'll be watching with bated breath!"
Ross: "Yes sir! That will be a night filled with slobberknockers! Fans, after our final commercial break, Melissa Santos will interview the Heavyweight Champion of the World, 'The Beast' Brock Lesnar! Don't change that dial!"
Ross: "We're back from commercial. Standing by at ringside is Melissa Santos!"
Santos: "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar!"
The fans erupted at the sound of Lesnar's entrance music. He stalked down the aisle with NWA: Show Time and Femme Fatales CEO Jordan Richards en tow. The crowd was already chanting, "Suplex City!" before Lesnar made it to the interview area.
Santos: "Brock, it's good to see you back on television. I know you went back home to Montana to recuperate after the beating you took following your team's victory in 'War Games' last month. What are your thoughts?"
Jordan Richards: "First of all, Melissa, Mr. Lesnar was not 'recuperating,' as you put it. He has no need for recuperation. You see, unlike a mortal man, he does not grow weary, does not get injured, does not need time off. No, Brock Lesnar is a 'beast' in every sense of the word. So, what he has been doing for the last couple of weeks is not recuperating. Rather, he has been contemplating."
Santos: "Contemplating what, exactly?"
Richards: "Contemplating when and where exactly to strike next."
Santos: "And, does he have someone in his sights?"
Richards: "He certainly does, Melissa. It's a particular Mexican ne'er-do-well by the name of Cibernetico."
The crowd booed vehemently at the mention of Cibernetico's name. Lesnar then took the microphone from Santos and glared at the camera.
Brock Lesnar: "Somewhere and some time soon, Cibernetico, I'm going to get my hands on you. And, when I do, I'm taking you to 'Suplex City,' b****!"
The crowd went ballistic and began to chant, "Suplex City!" even louder than before. At that moment, Texano, Jr. attacked Lesnar from behind. He wailed on him with his bullrope. Lesnar caught the rope and yanked Texano into him. He flung him with a "Belly-to-Belly Overhead Release Suplex," sending Texano out of the ring. Averno leapt off the top rope, but was caught on Lesnar's shoulders and dropped with an "F-5." Lesnar stood tall and "Clotheslined" Chessman over the top rope as soon as he entered the ring. Lesnar screamed to the top of his lungs and paced around the ring. All of "Los Hell Brothers" re-entered the ring, joined by Cibernetico, and pounced on Lesnar. Richards attempted to make the save with a steel chair, but was thwarted. Finally, the "Richards Collective" swarmed ringside and cleared the ring. The fans were losing their minds at this point.
Lesnar: "Come and get some, punk! Let's go now!"
Cibernetico was shouting back, "¡No me puedes vencer (You cannot beat me)!"
Richards: "Cibernetico, I've had all I'm going to take of you constant sneak attacks! You can't beat Brock Lesnar one-on-one and we're going to prove it! I am hereby signing the main event of the next broadcast of NWA: World of Wrestling! Since I'm the Chairman of the NWA Board of Governors, I have the authority to do it! Cibernetico will go one-on-one with 'The Beast' Brock Lesnar and it will be for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship! Just to ensure that it's truly a head-to-head battle and Cibernetico's little friends don't interfere, I'm putting it inside a steel cage!"
Ross: "Oh baby, we've got a huge main event lined up for episode two! I can't wait for that one! They're going to blow the roof off the building! Fans, do not miss the next exciting episode of NWA: World of Wrestling! For Matt Striker and Mauro Ranallo, I'm Jim Ross. Good night, everybody!"
