The scene opened to Madusa Miceli, Melissa Santos, and Noel Harlow sitting at the commentary booth of an empty WRAL studios.
Madusa Miceli: "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the hottest hour on television, Show Time Femme Fatales! I'm your hostess, Madusa Miceli. With me are my lovely co-hostesses, Melissa Santos and Noel Harlow. Missy, we have a big episode planned today!"
Melissa Santos: "Yes, we do. We have highlights of the 'Femme Fatales Top Gun' Tournament third round, which took place in our studios yesterday."
Harlow: "As we gone further in the tournament, the matches have gotten better and better. You would expect as much with the finest
roster of female talent in the world."
Miceli: "Noel, you hit the nail on the head. This tournament has been a classic so far. Before we get into the highlights, I must talk about what's been going on with the ladies division over the last couple of weeks. As the fans know, 'Candy Crush' was kictked out of 'Joshi Mafia' after beating Io and Mio Shirai in a match that was supposed to cement them into the group. Kairi Hojo and Chelsea Diamond not only had a beef with Aja Kong and friends, but they had a victory over the Tag Team Champions. They petitioned Commissioner Aikawa for a title match, which was granted this past Tuesday on the Show Time Power Hour. 'Candy Crush' became the new champs when their old friends from Stardom made the save against the 'Mafia.' I would imagine Aja Kong is spitting nails right about now."
Santos: "If we know Aja as well as we think, we know she has a plan already."
Harlow: "Yes, and a devious one at that."
Miceli: "We'll see how that plan unfolds in the coming weeks. Right now, we have to get to these tournament highlights."
Commentary has been suspended between matches for the sake of space.
Match One ~ 2 Io Shirai vs. 6 O.D.B.
The numbers game got the best of O.D.B. in this match. A timely distraction by "Joshi Mafia" caused O.D.B. to lose focus. As she turned to confront them, Io landed a kick to the back of her head. Io followed up with her patented "Moonsault" for the pin.
Winner = 2 Io Shirai by pinfall in 7:43
Match Two ~ 1 Awesome Kong vs. 5 Yumi Ohka
Awesome Kong is the most feared and dominant female wrestler on planet earth. Yumi Ohka, the brand new Women's Television Champion, has been on fire recently. Something had to give. The general consensus was that Yumi's best hope for victory was for Kong to make a huge mistake or Ohka to get lucky. Kong dominated the match as expected. Kong confidently went for the "Implant Buster." As she hoisted Ohka up, Yumi thrust her momentum upward and rolled over Kong's head into a "Sunset Bomb." Kong kicked out, but it was a fraction after the referee's hand slapped the mat for the third time, signaling the biggest upset in the tournament thus far.
Winner = 5 Yumi Ohka by pinfall in 6:06
The crowd went ballistic. So did Kong. She gave Ohka two "Implant Busters" and one to referee Nikkon Lee. That will cost her.
Match Three ~ 2 Mio Shirai vs. 3 Takako Inoue
Mio is one of the finest offensive wrestlers in the world. Inoue is a defensive master. She had a counter punch for everything Shirai threw at her. Mio went for the "Egukeri." Inoue turned it into a bridging "O'Connor Roll" for the surprise pin.
Winner = 3 Takako Inoue by pinfall in 7:21
Match Four ~ 1 Kana vs. 4 Paige with Saraya Knight
Paige has been on a roll lately after a summer lull. She has beaten impressive opponents in her two previous tournament matches. Kana is a revered striker, but Paige showed tremendous toughness, matching Kana strike for strike. Kana was obviously bewildered by this. Paige hit the "RamPaige" for a VERY long two-count. Kana eventually cinched in the "Kana Lock." Paige refused to tap out, even though her shoulder looked to be close to separation. Saraya Knight, Paige's mother, manager, and trainer, could stand no more. She conceded the match on her daughter's behalf.
Winner = 1 Kana by technical submission in 8:47
Match Five ~ 2 Mika Nagano vs. 3 Hikaru Shida
This was the first match-up that featured members of "Joshi Mafia" as opponents. Though the group seems fiercely loyal to each other, we knew to expect a genuine match, as Commissioner Aikawa and Deputy Commissioner Kakimoto have both maintained that they will throw out any result perceived not to be competitive between "Mafia" members. After a very clean match, Shida used her veteran expertise to overcome the MMA background of Nagano with a top-rope "Falcon Arrow."
Winner = 3 Hikaru Shida by pinfall in 7:11
Match Six ~ 1 Kairi Hojo vs. 4 Sarah Stock
This was easily the match of the night. It's such a beautiful tapestry that was woven by both women. It's always an intriguing dynamic when Joshi Puroresu engages Lucha Libre. Stock was her normal stellar self. Hojo was her brilliant best. I've never seen a better ten-minute match. Hojo finally nailed the "Flying Elbow Drop" for the win in a match that earned a standing ovation in the studio.
Winner = 1 Kairi Hojo by pinfall in 10:08
Match Seven ~ 3 Tsukasa Fujimoto vs. 7 Celeste
Celeste is perhaps the strongest competitor in the women's division. She owns a huge upset against Aja Kong in the last round. She had plenty of momentum. Fujimoto is as skilled as they come and can defeat any woman in the world on any given night. This one came down to a bit of outside shenanigans. Fujimoto had Celeste on the ropes and went to the opposite side of the ring for a "Bronco Buster." As she approached, "Divas of Destruction" member D'Arcy Dixon, who had accompanied Celeste in this match, pulled her out of the way. The referee was shielded from this. Tsukasa slammed into the corner. As she staggered to her feet, Celeste decleated her with a "Spear" to become the lowest seed to advance into the quarter-finals.
Winner = 7 Celeste by pinfall in 6:36
Match Eight ~ 1 Manami Toyota vs. 5 ACT Yasukawa
Toyota is Toyota. She's simply the finest women's wrestler who ever lived, in this writer's opinion. At forty-four years old, she has defeated every single woman on the roster as the first and only NWA: Show Time Women's Champion. She is currently the reigning NWA World Women's Champion. ACT Yasukawa is a capable opponent. She is a member of "Joshi Mafia" and a former Stardom Champion. She was no match for Toyota. Manami polished her off with the "Japanese Ocean Cyclone Suplex."
Winner = 1 Manami Toyota by pinfall in 8:28
Miceli: "There you have it, fans! We are now through to the quarter-finals. Next week, we will be back with live commentary and every match will be shown in its entirety! For Melissa Santos and Noel Harlow, I'm Madusa Miceli, saying, keep on rockin' and rollin!'"
