Austin welcomed Edge and Christian to the show. Christian went for early comedy by leaning in as he thanked Austin for having them. Austin told Christian it's a dummy mic and said he's already mic'd. Austin asked what they want to be called. More comedy.
Austin set up footage of Edge and Christian with long hair, and a picture of Austin with short hair also appeared.
Edge spoke about how he and Christian had their daughters roughly six weeks apart. He told a story about how he was in New York when he called Christian to tell him he was having a child. Christian paused and informed Edge that he and his wife were also expecting. Edge said his daughter calls Christian "Uncle Jay."
Austin asked them about adjusting to life after wrestling. Christian spoke about being used to going at all times and not knowing what to do with himself initially.
Edge said he was ready to make the switch. Austin was skeptical, but Edge assured him it was true. Edge said he started at 17 and working for WWE was his focus starting at age nine. He said he had a year left on his deal and he was still working hard. He said he was working with guys like Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio and putting them over to lay the groundwork.
Edge also spoke about getting the "Haven" television show after he retired. He said one episode turned into forty.
Austin said he asks the hard hitting questions and he doesn't want to get too personal, but he had to ask. Austin dug in his pocket and pulled out a couple of kazoos. He asked if they would play his theme song. Christian pulled out the mini guitar and mini cowboy hat and said they would do it if Austin would sing "Kumbaya." Austin put the hat on and said he would. Edge and Christian held up their end via the kazoos. Austin started to take the hat off, but they stopped him.
Christian said the kazoos started because someone had one and they decided they were going to use it. Edge spoke about sitting around with former WWE creative team lead Brian Gewirtz and doing things that would make them laugh.
Austin performed "Kumbaya" as Edge and Christian clapped along. Austin slammed the guitar down and threw the hat and said he lived up to his end of the rib.
Austin asked Edge and Christian about the current tag team division. He asked if they keep up on the product and they both said they do. Christian said things turned up a notch when The Dudleys returned. Edge said he welled up a bit seeing that because he was so happy for them. Austin said they went away for a while, but now they are home.
Austin spoke about the things he appreciated about tag wrestling that seem to have been forgotten. Edge said the Dudleys returning should help that. Edge said The Mechanics in NXT are cutting off the ring, which Austin mentioned earlier as something he appreciated about tag wrestling. Edge said he's excited about watching the tag division again because he enjoys when tag wrestling is done right.
Edge spoke about how he and Christian went to meetings as a duo, whereas Matt represented the Hardys, and Bubba represented The Dudleys. He said he wasn't trying to throw anyone under the bus, but that's how it was.
Austin asked how they met. They played the "don't look at me" game. Christian said he started it. Christian recalled that they were tying Undertaker to the cross when he looked at Austin and told him, "Don't look at me." Austin laughed about being ribbed during a major angle.
Edge and Christian spoke about how they met. Edge said it started because Edge had a ninja star. They eventually discovered that they both liked wrestling. They both said Hulk Hogan was their early favorite.
Austin said it was time for a Newlywed Game style question. He asked Christian to name Edge's favorite arena, then vice versa. They both said All-State Arena in Chicago. Austin noted that it was the Rosemont Horizon and he said that everyone loves it. Austin said MSG is special, but there's something about the Rosemont Horizon.
Austin asked both men if they are pro wrestlers or sports entertainers. They both said pro wrestlers.
Edge said his favorite match is working with Undertaker at WrestleMania. He said it was validating to be in that position and to be in the main event. He said if you could bottle the feeling you would be rich.
After discussing their embarrassing moments in the ring, Austin set up footage of some of the crazy spots in their TLC match with The Hardys and Dudleys. Edge noted that Jeff Hardy was knocked out from one of the spots they showed. They grimaced and groaned a couple times at some of the bigger spots.
Austin noted the history of the ladder match going back to England, but he questioned whether TLC originated in WWE. Both men believed it did. Edge said they had a blank canvas and no restraints. He said he doesn't think anyone knew what was going to happen. Austin asked how anyone followed that. "I think they put the girls on," Edge responded.
Austin asked about where to draw the line in a match of that nature. Christian said there's a risk of those matches becoming a spectacle "where it's just a car crash." He said they wanted to tell a story with psychology where it made sense in terms of why they were doing things at certain points. Edge said the bar was being raised each time they did it. He said they discussed the match in a suite with the others prior to WrestleMania in Houston. He said they were butting heads and he believes it was due to the pressure of trying to top the previous versions because it was WrestleMania. Edge noted that there was only one spot that didn't go according to plan in those matches.
Christian said they were willing to take the risk for the reward in those matches. Austin asked if the reward was worth it. "I think so," Christian responded. They said they were not in the main event, but they wanted to be in the match that everyone was talking about.
Austin brought up the Hardys and the Dudleys and the trust the teams had. Edge spoke about spearing Jeff off the hook as an example of the trust. Austin asked about them returning today and visiting. Austin asked if it makes them yearn for it. Edge said he enjoys it, but he doesn't yearn for it. Christian spoke about how it's cool to talk with the young guys and hear about what they are going through because they were once the young guys.
Christian said it doesn't bother him when people say Edge had a better career. He said you could line up their careers and if there wasn't a connection between them, people would say he had an impressive career. Edge said they were friends before and friends after their careers.
Edge said he was surprised to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame so quickly. He said he received calls from Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels saying he deserved it. Christian said he was "over the moon" excited for Edge entering the HOF. "I think if anyone deserves it, it would be him," Christian said.
Austin asked Christian about whether he thinks he will be in the HOF. Christian said he hopes so. Edge said yes and that he definitely deserves it and is beginning the petitioning now.
Austin noted that Michael Hayes still isn't in the HOF, but he was very instrumental in their careers. Austin asked if they agree that the Freebirds should be in the HOF. They both agreed they should be. Edge said he thinks Hayes saw a little bit of the Freebirds in them. Austin raved about the Freebirds as he has rightfully done many times.
Edge said the most important advice he got from Hayes is that the heel has to believe in what he's saying. He said there has to be a kernel of truth in it so that the heel believes it and it bothers the fans because they know he's right to some degree.
Christian said he thinks Hayes saw they both had passion and weren't going to settle for anything less than success. Edge said they could pitch anything to Hayes and he would listen to them.
Austin recalled Edge and Christian going to wrestler's court because they went to dinner at a head writer's house. Christian said they were ticked they were going to court, so they came up with a rock solid defense. They said Undertaker was the judge and JBL was the prosecutor. Christian said they doctored up a book cover and claimed they had a book deal even though they were so new. Christian said they held up the book and it read, "Edge and Christian: Ass-Kissing Our Way To The Top." Christian said everyone laughed. He said they also bought Taker gifts and said, "our settlement is there." Taker ended up telling them, "I don't think there's going to be a blemish on your record, boys."
Austin brought up Vince McMahon and noted that Vince was the one who informed Edge that his in-ring career was over due to his neck injury. Edge said he was sitting on his deck when Vince called and said it was the most difficult call he's had to make. Vince told him his career was over. Austin asked Edge what he's taken away from Vince over the years. Edge said just the way Vince sees the world. Edge said he sees it in a different way and he thinks it's cool, but it's not for him. Edge said he likes to go sit in the mountains and he knows Vince would love to so that, but he can't do it because of his career.
Austin asked Christian about Vince. Christian spoke of Vince's dedication to WWE. He said Vince's work ethic is infectious and it trickles down.
