The episode began with a highlight package of last week's main event, where The Rock made a shocking appearance and joined Jordan Richards, also becoming the NWA: Show Time Television Champion.
William Regal: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the finest sixty minutes for wrestling on television, the Show Time Power Hour. I'm your host William Regal. With me is Renee Young. As you can see, we are in the midst of an eventful period here in NWA: Show Time. Renee, what do you make of it all?"
Renee Young: "William, I'm still scratching my head over The Rock joining Jordan Richards and company last week. He appeared out of nowhere, under the guise of being Scott Hall's personal guest. Then, he shocked us all by coming out during the main event. We thought he was here to confront Brock Lesnar, then he joined up with him! As a result, The Rock went from beloved icon to hated vilified in one fell swoop. And, he won the TV Championship to boot! It was an unbelievably surreal moment. I hope The Rock takes the time to explain himself."
Just then, "Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva played to bring out CEO "The Show" Jordan Richards, Stacy Keibler, Brock Lesnar, and "The Kingdom." The Rock was conspicuously absent.
Regal: "Well, it looks like we may have to wait a bit for that explanation, sunshine."
Jordan Richards: "Well, well, well. You didn't see that one coming, did you?! I told the world I had a surprise partner for my team tat would shock the wrestling world. I believe I delivered on that promise. The Rock is one of the biggest names of all time and I inked him to an exclusive contract days before last week's episode. I made sure the entire NWA: Show Time Board of Directors kept its mouth shut and no 'spoiler reports' were leaked. Dwayne drew in Scott Hall and Jake Roberts hook, line, and sinker. He is a Hollywood actor, after all. A plan has never come together so beautifully before in life. In his first match with the company, The Rock became the NWA: Show Time Television Champion. The 'Brahma Bull' is now running with 'The Beast' and 'The Kingdom,' and we own every men's trophy there is to offer. Ratings are through the roof. Arenas are selling out in every city we go to. Merchandise is moving. What more could I possibly want? Today is a good day. Now, I know everyone is asking the million-dollar question? How did I get The Rock on board? Well, I could explain that, but, wouldn't it be better to hear it straight from the source?"
"If ya smelllllll, what The Rock, is cookin'!" blared over the PA and The Rock came stomping out to a heavily mixed reaction.
Young: "There's the guy the entire wrestling world has been talking about for a week."
The Rock: "Charlotte, North Cacky Lacky! The Rock is in the house! 'The Great One,' 'The Most Electrifying Man In Sports,' is in living color and in your living rooms! The jabroni beating, pie eating, high flying, electrifying, elbow dropping, heart stopping, eyebrow raising, trailblazing, formerly known as 'The People's Champ,' now known as the TV Champ, man of the hour has arrived! So, the world wants to know what brought The Rock back. One word--money. The Rock loves that paper! Jordan Richards has plenty of it and he is not afraid to spread it around. Now, The Rock knew that if he was going to make a splash, he wanted to make it in the biggest sea and not in some tiny little pond. NWA: Show Time is the hottest ticket going today. When Jordan called The Rock up, he made The Rock an offer he couldn't refuse. So, The Rock did what The Rock does best, and made a grand entrance. I know the people thought The Rock was coming in to take out Brock Lesnar. Now, why would The Rock go and do a stupid thing like that? Brock is the baddest man on the planet. No, no, no, no, no. The Rock knew that the best business decision was to join up with Brock, Jordan, and 'The Kingdom' to form an unstoppable force. In 2002, Brock Lesnar beat The Rock 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring. The Rock is cool with that, because the better man won that day. The Rock would be a fool not to get on board with 'The Beast.' The Rock's no fool. Look at The Rock now. This platinum hardware draped across The Rock's shoulder, the collection of talent standing around The Rock, the huge deposit The Rock made into his ample bank account last week, all goes to show that, to the victor, go the spoils. If ya smellllllll, what The Rock, is cookin'!"
The original "nWo" music hit to a huge reaction. Commissioner Scott Hall came out with Deputy Commissioner Jake "The Snake" Roberts.
Scott Hall: "Hey, yo! I don't know what The Rock is cookin,' but I can tell you that is smells like crap! So, I'll admit it. Dwayne fooled us all. And, he went from being a hero to a zero real quick. I see the Television Championship you're carrying around; the one you stole from Shelton Benjamin. Well, as the former champion, he deserves a rematch and he is demanding a shot. But, rather than sign that match for tonight, he chose to wait for our next iPPV on Saturday, September 26. What Shelton requested tonight is a tag team match. In fact, he wants a crack at the tag team championship. So, since the Bennett and Taven have open contracts as the champions, I took the liberty of booking them in a title defense tonight against 'Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team!' As for The Rock, Jake has a little message for you."
Jake Roberts: "Dwayne, my boy, you did make an auspicious beginning to your Show Time career. But, I don't care who you think you work for. You're under contract to this organization. That means we can book you any time we see fit. Since you're the new Television Champion, it's only appropriate that you wrestle on TV. So, tonight, big boy, you're going to face a guy who is chomping at the bit to get in the ring and who thrives on competition. He's got an athletic background and a great pedigree. He continues to improve every outing and he came to Scott and I today and said that he's ready for a 'big match' scenario. So, Rock, tonight you're facing this man's (Scott Hall) son, Cody Hall!"
The Rock: "The Rock says that's just fine. If Cody Hall wants to go one-on-one with 'The Great One,' I'll shine my boot up, turn it sideways, and stick is straight up his candy a--!" (Roberts cuts him off mid-expletive)
Roberts: "Whoa, whoa, whoa, Rocky. Watch your language! This is a family show. Besides, you didn't let me finish. You are not just wrestling Cody Hall. You're also wrestling 'War Machine' Hansen and Tetsuya Naito. Tonight, oh 'Great One,' you're running the gauntlet!"
The Rock and company were livid at this announcement. Richards took a mic.
Richards: "You two are pushing your luck! Just because you have some authority around here doesn't mean you are running things! I'm the boss! I founded this promotion and I am its CEO! You may have signed The Rock up for a 'Gauntlet' match, but I'm picking the stipulation. Every Gauntlet match will be no disqualification! And, the tag team title match will be as well!"
Regal: "The Rock will run the gauntlet and the tag team championship is on the line tonight. What an explosive way to begin the broadcast!"
Young: "Yes it was! I don't know how we'll fit it all into this hour!"
Regal: "With that in mind, let's go to the ring!"
Match One ~ Dean Ambrose & Claudio Castagnoli vs. "Life of the Party"--Dalton Castle & Colt Cabana
Castagnoli and Ambrose have really come into their own as a team. They made quick work of Castle and Cabana, the crowd favorites. A huge "European Uppercut" by Castagnoli sent Castle straight into "Dirty Deeds" from Ambrose for the pin.
Winners = Dean Ambrose & Claudio Castagnoli by pinfall in 3:34
Regal: "Nice outing for Castagnoli and Amrbose. They are really working well together."
Young: "They're my new favorite team."
Regal: "Fans, our own 'So Cal' Valerie Wyndham sat down with Volador, Jr., to ask him about his actions at Clash of the Champions, when he cost his stable mate La Sombra the NWA World Historic Middleweight Championship. Let's take you to that interview."
Valerie Wyndham: "I'm here with Volador, Jr. of the "Super Luchas" tandem. Volador, this past Saturday, you sabotaged your own friend and partner La Sombra as he defended the NWA World Historic Middleweight Championship against Kota Ibushi. Can you explain why?"
Volador, Jr. (through an interpreter): "La Sombra likes to tell the world he is my friend. In reality, he was never my friend at all. Back in 2013, he took my mask in Mexico. I won the right to wear it again, but I will never forget the fact that he stole it from me. He embarrassed me. The mask is very sacred in Mexico. He spit on my heritage."
Wyndham: "If you never forgave him, why become friends with he and Myzteziz and come to NWA: Show Time together?"
Volador: "It was all a plan. I heard he and Myzteziz wanted to come to America to fight, so I needed to follow him if I was to get my revenge. I befriended them and we waited for this opportunity. I knew that I would have a moment eventually. I chose Saturday as my moment. That belt meant more to La Sombra than anything and I made sure that he lost it."
Wyndham: "We saw Myzteziz come to the ring and break up your fight. We have not heard from him since that time. Do you think he will attempt to reconcile you and La Sombra?"
Volador: "I'm sure he will. He likes to take over, to be in charge. He's not my boss and he cannot tell me what to do. It's time for Volador, Jr. to go to another level. I don't need them. I never did."
Wyndham: "So, do you think La Sombra will come after you?"
Volador: "I hope he does. I will humble him. I already took his title. Maybe I will take his mask too, so he can see how it feels!"
Wyndham: "There you have it. Back to you, William."
Regal: "A telling interview, to say the least. okay fans, after the break, the gauntlet is next! Stay with us!"
Match Two ~ "No Disqualification Gauntlet" number one ~ The Rock with Maria Kanellis vs. Cody Hall
Cody was certainly a game challenger, but he just lacks the overall experience to challenge someone of The Rock's caliber. The Rock methodically picked him apart, in an obvious attempt to send a massage to Scott Hall. Hall did manage to get in a couple of flurries, but it was all for naught. The Rock nailed the "Rock Bottom," followed by "The People's Elbow" for the fairly comfortable victory.
Winner = The Rock by pinfall in 5:57
Match Three ~ "No Disqualification Gauntlet" number two ~ The Rock with Maria Kanellis vs. "War Machine" Hansen
The Rock showed of bit of hesitation at the beginning, especially when considering that Hansen is actually bigger then he. The Rock used every trick in his arsenal, but Hansen kept coming. The Rock started to show a little wear and tear. Maria proved to be the difference, as she jumped to the apron and distracted Hansen with her "assets," allowing The Rock to sneak up behind him and roll him up, with a double handful of tights, for the victory.
Winner = The Rock by pinfall in 8:16
Match Four ~ "No Disqualification Gauntlet" Three ~ The Rock with Maria Kanellis vs. Tetsuya Naito
The Rock was already begging for a time out before the match began. Naito took it straight to the TV Champion and had The Rock backpedaling early. Naito's high flying offense had The Rock off track. It looked as if Naito would pull out the victory. He ascended to the top rope for what appeared to be his vaunted "Stardust Press," but Brock Lesnar and "The Kingdom" rushed the ring and decimated him. The Rock was able to pick up the scraps for the easy pin at that point.
Winner = The Rock by pinfall in 10:28
This led to "Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team" hitting the ring and the tag team title match beginning immediately following the melee.
Match Five ~ NWA: Show Time Tag Team Championship ~ "No Disqualification" match ~ "The Kingdom"--Michael Bennett & Matt Taven with Maria Kanellis vs. "Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team"--Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas
This match was out of control form the opening bell, which was basically rung due to the conflict raging from the previous match. Bodies crashed everywhere, as Jordan Richards' entire stable was involved in the beatdown. Ambrose, Castagnoli, and Kevin Steen joined in as well. It was what amounted to an "anything goes Battle Royal," or that's what it resembled. In the midst of the chaos, Lesnar uncorked an "F-5" on Haas, which allowed Taven to gain the pin and retain the championship for his team.
Winners and still NWA: Show Time Tag Team Champions = "The Kingdom" by pinfall in 6:12
The brawl continued until Scott Hall and Jake Roberts returned to ringside.
Hall: "Jordan Richards, when you formed this faction of yours, you singled out the rest of the roster. You started a war, whether you meant to or not. This past Saturday, the NWA put on Clash of the Champions. The main event was a "War Games" match. I've been in a couple of those. Jordan, you've been in them too. In fact, Lesnar and Steen were our reps for that match. So, I know they're familiar with the concept too. All I know is that this thing is too big for one ring to hold it. That's why this match uses two rings. Here's what I propose. On September 26, at the iPPV, why don't we put a cage around two rings and let you guys go at it? Brock Lesnar, The Rock, and 'The Kingdom' versus Kevin Steen, Claudio Castagnoli, Dean Ambrose, and 'Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team?' I think that would be a good business decision. To coin a phrase I uttered in 1996, 'You guys want a war? Chico, you're gonna get a war!'"
Regal: "Oh, my! That is huge!"
Young: "'War Games' on iPPV in two weeks! I can't wait to see that! "
Regal: "Indeed. Well fans, that's all the time we have for this week. Tune in this Thursday on TNT for Show Time Femme Fatales and join us here next week on TBS for more Show Time Power Hour. I'm William Regal, for Renee Young, saying, ta ta for now!"
