Something I'm noticing, is that they're trying to kinda combine elements of Stone Cold and CM Punk into what Kevin Owens is doing now...it's kinda working, but it's not working all the way I can tell.
And it made me think of why, and how things work or don't work in Wrestling.
I think the current push they're doing with Kevin Owens is probably ultimately not gonna work, because it's kinda forced. It just feels a little too manufactured ya know. Another Anti-Hero Stone Cold-ish bad guy doing battle with McMahon's suddenly evil Son.
The best things in Wrestling history when you think about it have always kinda happened organically.
Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels REALLY didn't like each other so their Professional competitiveness, and the heat between them made their work and feuds quite memorable.
Stone Cold and McMahon...McMahon coming off the Montreal Screwjob was such a believable asshole at that time, that it wasn't hard to make it work, and Stone Cold was basically being himself so it worked great as well.
Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat...though there was no real animosity between the two as far as I know, it is true that they couldn't have been any more different as far as how they chose to live their lives, and they played up this fact when they feuded.
I think for things to really gel and work in Wrestling, for the most part it helps a whole lot if there really is some sorta friction between the performers in real life...or at least circumstances where you could BELIEVE that there is. Think of all the best feuds in Wrestling, and the real life elements involved, and you'll see what I mean.
Now obviously the wrestlers have to be Professional enough to put whatever friction there is between them aside enough to work together, so you'd probably want to avoid it if two guys genuinely HATE each other deeply, but a healthy dislike seems to help feuds in Wrestling.
