Before the traditional program intro, footage from NWA Great American Bash IV was aired, where NWA: Show Time Commissioner and Special Referee Ric Flair turned on "The Richards Collective" and joined forces with "Allied Powers" to form "The Magnificent Seven," also costing "TRC" the match and allowing CM Punk to take over as CEO of NWA: Show Time.
William Regal: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the finest sixty minutes of pro wrestling in the world, the Show Time Power Hour! I'm your host, William Regal. With me are Mauro Ranallo and Jim Cornette! Men, we all saw what happened this past Sunday at the Great American Bash pay-per-view. None of us can explain it or what it will mean for this company. All we know is that all parties have been silent on the matter up to now."
Just then, "Cult of Personality" blared over the PA system to bring out the new CEO of NWA: Show Time, CM Punk, to a mixed reaction. He came strutting out in a suit and tie.
CM Punk: "Well, well, well, it sure does feel good to be in charge of the greatest company on the planet! 'The Best in the World' is now running the best in the world! And, I have one man to thank for it all! And, that man is our esteemed Commissioner, 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair!"
Flair came strutting down the aisle with a huge smile on his face.
Ric Flair: "Woooo! The Commissioner is in the house! And, he looks good beside the new CEO of this company!"
Punk: "Ric, I've asked you out here for one very important reason. The world saw what happened on Sunday, when you made the biggest decision of your life. The entire wrestling world has been abuzz since then, and they're all asking one question, 'Why?!' So Commissioner, I'll give you the floor to explain yourself."
Flair: "With pleasure, Mr. CEO. I have taken a back seat to Jordan Richards and his politics for far too long. Yes, he brought me in. Yes, he gave me a fat contract and a position of authority. Then, he proceeded to keep me in the corporate office bogged down with paperwork while he continued to give opportunity after opportunity to 'The Richards Collective,' which is a group of has beens who refused to give up the spotlight to younger and better talent! So, I came to CM Punk a few weeks back and concocted this scheme of a lifetime. This plan was put into motion because of the ego of Jordan Richards and fell for it, hook, line, and sinker. You see, now that CM Punk is in charge, the people who should e getting opportunities will get them! Some of those people are the men and women who defeated 'The Richards Collective' on Sunday. Allow me to bring out the rest of 'The Magnificent Seven!'"
WALTER, Braun Strowman, Kota Ibushi, Matt Riddle, Alexa Bliss, and AJ Lee came out to join Punk and Flair in the ring. The fans began to boo loudly at this point.
Punk: "This collection of talent right here is the present and future of professional wrestling and NWA: Show Time! 'The Richards Collective' is old news! 'The Magnificent Seven' is the new standard in our sport! We own the Heavyweight Championship, The Cruiserweight Championship, and the Mid-Atlantic Championship! As it stands right now, Braun, Matt, and I are beltless. That changes tonight. In my first decision as CEO, I have asked our Commissioner to make a couple of matches, and he has agreed! Braun will take the Television Championship away from Killer Kross tonight with Ric being the Special Guest Referee! Also, Matt and I will take on 'Glorious Outlaws' for the Tag Team Championship in the main event and the Special Guest Referee will be none other than my wife, AJ Lee!"
"Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva played to bring out owner and former CEO Jordan Richards.
Jordan Richards: "Well played, ladies and gentlemen. The story sort of wrote itself, didn't it? The evil owner gets his comeuppance when the trusted confidant, the man who was supposed to be his ace in the hole, turns on him and joins the enemy. Bravo! It looks as though you may have won this little battle, but the war is far from over!"
Punk: "That's where you're wrong, Jordan! In fact, I'm glad you're out here for this. Because I was just about to perform my second official act as CEO before you rudely interrupted me. I am terminating your contract, effective immediately! So, in the immortal words of a man I used to work for and hated, 'You're fired!'"
Richards: "That's cute, son. But, you obviously have a lot to learn about running a major wrestling company. I wasn't just the CEO, but I am the owner and founder of NWA: Show Time. In that capacity, I also function as the Chairman of its Board of Directors. When I founded this company, I built in my contract as Chairman the power to veto any executive decision made. The reason I did that was so that I could avoid any sort of coup attempt by other Board members or anyone else in power, like Ric Flair, for instance. You see, I considered Ric a friend, but I also know he's the dirtiest player in the game, so had people like him in mind when I set NWA: Show Time into motion. But, make no mistake, I still wield quite a bit of power around here and I am the primary shareholder. Now, I'll admit that I am no one's hero. I do not wear the proverbial white hat. I have put measures in place to ensure that 'The Richards Collective' were at the forefront of NWA: Show Time. But, that is because I am a businessman. Everyone in that group is a proven ratings draw and they put backsides in seats at our live events. Facts are facts! And, let us not forget that long ago you yourself were in that same group until you betrayed me. So, you've proven that you're no better than I. Bottom line, you can't fire me, Punk! So, no, this war is not over, not by a longshot!"
Punk: "We'll see about that!"
Richards: "Yes, we will. And, I see what you're doing with the main event. You plan to steal the Tag team Championship from us. Go right ahead. Everything you do today will be repaid when the time comes."
Regal: "Well then, we've seen quite a bit out here in just the first few minutes!"
Mauro Ranallo: "Indeed we have! What's next for this company?!"
Jim Cornette: "We've lived through this before. Here's hoping the company can live through it now."
Regal: "That's a big if. Fans, we now know our two main events. We have other exciting action to get to first! Let's go to the ring for this special challenge match!"
Match One ~ "Bruiserweight" Pete Dunne with Joanna Rose vs. Zack Sabre, Jr. with "The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo
This was a classic British submission fest with grinding technical action that kept the fans ooing and ahing throughout. Sabre focused on the knee and neck of Dunne, with Pete looking to destroy the former's fingers as per his usual torturous offense. Sabre went for a submission, but Dunne reversed it and worked Zack into position for "The Bitter End." Purrazzo broke up the count for the DQ.
Winner = Pete Dunne by disqualification in 21:15
After the match, Rose attacked Deonna, which brought out the other members of each faction for a pull-apart brawl.
Regal: "This thing between 'British Strong Style' and 'Euro Trash' is far from over!"
Ranallo: "Momma Mia, what a war out here!"
Cornette: "This situation with the ladies is getting out of hand and it's caused the continuation of the longstanding war between these two UK factions!"
Regal: "Fans, let's take a break to restore order. We'll be back shortly with the first of our two title matches!"
Regal: "We're back! Fans, Vanessa Craft is standing by with the Television Champion as he prepares for seemingly insurmountable odds against Braun Strowman."
Vanessa Craft: "I am here with current Television Champion Killer Kross and his advisor Scarlett Bordeaux. Killer, you're set to face Braun Strowman in defense of your title tonight. As if the level of difficulty wasn;t enough against 'The Monster Among Men,' how do you deal with Commissioner Ric Flair as the Special Guest Referee?"
Killer Kross: "I have made a career of defying expectations. It may seem as though the deck is stacked, but Ric Flair cannot count my shoulders down if I do not allow Braun Strowman to put me down."
Scarlett Bordeaux: "Look five, let the ten tell you how this is all going down. Killer Kross will run circles around Braun Strowman, then he'll put him to sleep. There's nothing Ric Flair can do about that."
The two strode off confidently.
Regal: "Killer Kross makes a fair point. His shoulders cannot be counted down if they're never on the mat. Let's see if he can stay upright against the behemoth Braun Strowman!"
Match Two ~ NWA: Show Time Television Championship ~ Special Guest Referee Commissioner Ric Flair ~ Killer Kross with Scarlet Bordeaux vs. "The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman with "The Goddess" Alexa Bliss
Kross did a fine job of keeping Braun off balance for much of the match, using MMA style leg kicks to weaken the tree trunk thighs of the big man. Referee Flair actually helped turn the tide by tripping Kross right into the awaiting arms of Strowman, who began to ragdoll him around. Braun punished Kross for a few minutes before trying to end it. Kross slipped out and went for his "Kross Jacket Sleeper." He got Strowman to his knees, but braun powered back up and fought out of it, flipping Kross onto his shoulder and dropping him with the "Running Powerslam." Flair made a lightning quick count as Kross tried to kick out.
Winner and NEW NWA: Show Time Television Champion = Braun Strowman by pinfall in 14:10
Regal: "Well, Flair got his way in that one."
Ranallo: "No question the refereeing here tonight will be skewed in the favor of 'The Magnificent Seven!'"
Cornette: "I've been the victim of crooked refereeing. It's a hard pill to swallow!"
Regal: "We'll be back in just a moment with our main event. Stay with us!"
Regal: "All right, fans. We're back and it's main event time! Can 'The Richards Collective' overcome the odds against 'The Magnificent Seven?!' We're about to find out!"
Match Three ~ NWA: Show Time Tag Team Championship ~ Special Guest Referee AJ Lee ~ "Glorious Outlaws" ("Glorious" Bobby Roode & "Outlaw" James Storm) with Maryse Ouellet vs. "The Magnificent Seven" (CM Punk & "King of Bros" Matt Riddle)
This one went down as expected, for the most part. Lee's penchant for slow counting the champions was obvious, while her blazing fast counts for the challengers were equally as annoying. The champions grew more and more frustrated. Eventually, Storm went for "Last Call" on Punk, but Lee shoved him out of the way and took the kick straight to the jaw. While she was out, Braun Strowman, Kota Ibushi, and WALTER came running down to attack the champions. They were thwarted by Brock Lesnar, Ricochet, and Nick Aldis. An all-out melee commenced outside the ring. A replacement referee ran down to the ring as Roode had Riddle pinned. WALTER dragged him out of the ring at the two-count, then dropped him like a shot with a vicious chop. WALTER then nailed Roode with a chairshot to the back. Bobby staggered into a "Running Pump Knee" from Riddle. AJ, who had recovered by this time, made another super speedy count to end it.
Winners and NEW NWA: Show Time Tag Team Champions = "The Magnificent Seven" by pinfall in 13:48
Regal: "Well, the refereeing played a pivotal role once again, as we expected."
Ranallo: "If CM Punk assigns his own hand picked referees to every 'Magnificent Seven' match, they cannot lose!"
Cornette: "That's what it looks like!"
Regal: "Well, 'The Magnificent Seven' stands triumphantly draped in gold! That's for sure! Fans, we're all out of time for this week. Please join us next Tuesday on TBS for more of the Show Time Power Hour! Cathy Kelley is on assignment, so After Buzz will be back next week as well! For Mauro Ranallo and Jim Cornette, I'm William Regal, saying ta ta for now!"
As the episode closed, "The Magnificent Seven" and Ric Flair stood in center ring, raising each others' hands as "The Richards Collective" looked on from the floor.
