I've seen Evolve. I don't like it, it's not sport based to me.
That's what's wrong with Wrestling literally nobody even knows what wrestling is anymore. People will tell me "Oh man there's something out there that's like the wrestling you want" NO. No there's not goddamnit. That's the problem.
It's not ANYWHERE.
All Japan and CMLL ain't doing me no good. I don't understand the promos, therefore I don't understand what's going on, therefore I can't get into it.
I'm hoping the NWA will do things right, but a recent look at some of their stuff tells me that it's not really gonna work out either.
The sad thing is the wrestlers themselves are part of the problem these days. They just don't know how Wrestling is supposed to be anymore. They insist on being WWE lite everywhere you look.
I just wish SOMEBODY would give me a show that looked and felt like Memphis Wrestling, Smoky Mountain Wrestling, Gordon Solie Florida Wrestling...I don't mind the high flying moves on occasion, but give me that old feel and presentation. Give me the guy with the microphone waiting to talk to a pissed off wrestler as he's walking by in the backstage area after a hard fought match. Give me the weasely manager who's a smartass on the mic, and who gets involved in the matches and shit.
I realize you can't recreate the heat from the old days, but you can at least try to recreate the feel. Nobody even comes close anymore.
Your perspective of wrestling is just that, your perspective. I for one am glad that the 80s are dead and buried. Sure there was some good stuff but the vast majority of the undercards from back then, or even in the 70s was complete shit.
If you don’t like AEW or any other promotion then don’t watch it man. I enjoy AEW and most other promotions these days and it sucks for you that you can’t find enjoyment in these things but at the end of the day that’s entirely your issue. There is plenty of good stuff happening right now and if you can’t get over a fucking battle royal in a pre show then it’s pretty sad man because the show was brilliant. I know you are a Cornette fan but dude, that guy is so out of touch it’s not even funny.
