William Regal: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the finest sixty minutes of pro wrestling in the world, the Show Time Power Hour! I'm your host, William Regal. With me are hall of famers Michael Hayes and Jim Cornette! Men, the brackets for the 'Mixed Match Challenge' will be revealed tonight!"
Michael Hayes: "Yep! I can't wait! This is going to be a huge event! A hundred grand and matches of their choice to the winners!"
Jim Cornette: "Yes, it's a historic night. But, let's focus on the important issues, like my man Claudio Castagnoli having the Mid-Atlantic Championship stolen from him by Ricochet and a crooked referee!"
Regal: "Jim, let's not go there. You'll burst a blood vessel. Besides, you'll have plenty to worry about when 'The Revival' challenges for the Tag Team Championship tonight in a 'Fatal Four-Way' match!"
Cornette: "We're taking back what's ours, but it doesn't change the fact that a title was stolen from us last week!"
Regal: "Maybe not. But, you'd better get focused for the opportunity in front of you. Fans, also on the program, Kota Ibushi will take on Taichi in a grudge match and we'll see the awaited debut of 'Absolution' in our first match here tonight! Let's go to the ring!"
Match One ~ "Absolution" ("Golden Girl" Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville) vs. Brian Pillman, Jr. & David Benoit
The female upstart team had its hands full with the sons of former "Four Horsemen" members Brian Pillman and Chris Benoit. every time Rose found herself in a difficult spot, she used her feminine wiles to eradicate it. Deville used her MMA background to keep some distance with kicks and strikes. Ultimately, the two got the win after Mandy held Benoit's trunks on a "Roll-up."
Winners = "Absolution" by pinfall in 7:47
Regal: "A winning debut for the newest members of the Cruiserweight division, although it did not come easily!"
Hayes: "They'll have to scratch and claw to every win they get in the toughest Cruiserweight division on the planet!"
Cornette: "Those two women have no place in a man's ring! They should ship out to Femme Fatales!"
Regal: "My, my, Jim. Aren't we moody today? Well, we'll give you your leave to go prepare for the 'Fatla Four-Way.' Meanwhile, we'll take a commercial break. Be back with more in just a moment!"
As the episode came back on air, the scene was backstage, where Alexa Bliss came out of Jordan Richards' office smiling. "SoCal" Val, who was in the area, attempted to get a word with Bliss.
Valerie Wyndham: "Alexa, Alexa! Can you tell me what you were discussing in CEO Jordan Richards' office?"
Alexa Bliss: "It was a business meeting, Val."
Wyndham: "What sort of business?"
Bliss: "You'll see before the end of the night."
Bliss walked away with a sly grin.
Regal: "Well then, it seems Alexa Bliss certainly is up to something. Fans, we're about to see what could be an epic encounter for the Tag Team Championship! Four teams vying for one victory that will decide the championship! The Usos only have a twenty-five percent chance of retaining. Let's see how this shakes out!"
Match Two ~ NWA: Show Time Tag Team Championship ~ "Fatal Four-Way' match ~ Jey & Jimmy Uso with "The Bad Guy" Scott Hall vs. "The Revival" (Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson) with Jim Cornette vs. "British Strong Style" (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) with "Bruiserweight" Pete Dunne vs. Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable with "Olympic Hero" Kurt Angle
This was an epic encounter. The match could have been over in five minutes with the type of offense on display. But, the four teams ran interference so well, no one could score a pin attempt without it being broken up. Bate hit the "Tyler Driver '97" on Wilder, only to see Benjamin break up the pin. The Usos hit a double "Super Kick" to Gable, but Seven broke it up. In the end, it was great timing and a bit of good luck that won the match. Bate took out Benjamin and Gable with a "Suicide Dive." The Usos were recovering outside the ring from an earlier attack when "The Revival" nailed Trent Seven with "Shatter Machine." The Usos hit the ring and dispatched of Dash and Dawson. Jimmy then hit the top rope for a "Superfly Leap" onto a prone Seven for the pin.
Winners and STILL NWA: Show Time Tag Team Champions = The Usos by pinfall in 28:14
Regal: "Wow! What a match! The Usos retain in heart-stopping fashion!"
Hayes: "Dash and Dawson were so close to regaining the titles after hitting their finisher, but Jimmy and Jey took them out and stole the pin!"
Regal: "Jim Cornette is not pleased with that result! Fans, we'll take another break to catch our breath. We'll be back with Ibushi versus Taichi and the 'Mixed Match Challenge' bracket reveal when we return!"
Regal: "We're back! Well, Jim Cornette has rejoined us at the commentary booth and he is not a happy man."
Cornette: "You're d*** right I'm not happy! We got robbed again this week! Dash and Dawson had the match won, but the Usos stole it! That's all those criminals are good for! I want a fair shake for 'Camp Cornette!'"
Regal: "Okay Jim, calm down! We have to get back to business here. We have one more match before the bracket reveal, and it should be a dandy! Kota Ibushi will get his hands on the man who cost him the Cruiserweight Championship, his archrival Taichi Ishikori. Let's go to the ring!"
Match Three ~ Kota Ibushi vs. Taichi Ishikori with Ofune & Abe Miho
Taichi came to the ring singing, with his harem en tow. He does have quite a grand entrance. Ibushi came sprinting to the ring. As soon as he slid in, Taichi bailed quickly. Ibushi gave chase and the match was on. Kota dismantled Taichi, who was nearly defenseless. Everything he tried, Ibushi had an answer for. Taichi was no match for Kota on this night. Eventually, Kota hit the "Phoenix Splash." When he made the cover, Ofune reached into the ring and raked his eyes to break up the pin. This was seen by the referee, who immediately called for the bell.
Winner = Kota Ibushi by disqualification in 10:08
After the bell rang, Ofune jumped into the ring and began to pound on Ibushi. He blocked her and snatched her up into a "Sitout Powerbomb." He then grabbed Miho at ringside, bent her over his knee, and began spanking her. Taichi grabbed her and Ofune and bolted for the back.
Regal: "Well, it looks as if Kota Ibushi got some measure of revenge against Taichi! Fans, we'll take one more break. We're coming right back with the bracket reveal for the 'Show Time Femme Fatales Mixed Match Challenge' next!"
Regal: "we're back and it's the moment you've all been waiting for! Scarlett Bordeaux is standing by in the ring."
Scarlett Bordeaux: "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome NWA: Femme Fatales Commissioner Yuzuki Aikawa, NWA: Show Time Commissioner 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair, and the CEO of both companies, Jordan Richards."
Richards came out with "Empress of the Empire" Karlee Perez on his arm. Flair came out escorting Aikawa, then began to strut to the ring.
Jordan Richards: "Well, this is what the world has been waiting for since last week! The speculation has run rampant! Who's going to be in the 'Mixed Match Challenge?!' That's all I've been asked for a week solid! Well, we had so many requests, we've spent the bulk of our time narrowing them down! Ric Flair: "We will have two matches per week, one on this program and one on Femme Fatales, until the tournament advances to the finals!"
Yuzuki Aikawa: "The finals will culminate in six weeks!"
Richards: "It's going to be epic, so sit back, strap in, and enjoy the ride!"
Regal: "Wow! What a tournament bracket! It does seem a little slanted toward 'The Richards Collective,' but that notwithstanding, I'm excited to watch these matches unfold! To witness legends like The Undertaker, Michelle McCool, and Goldust compete will be a real treat!"
Hayes: "It's going to be great!"
Cornette: "It'll be a spectacle. I'll say that for it."
Regal: "A spectacle indeed, Jim. Fans, we're all out of time for this week. Please join us again next Tuesday on TBS for more of the Show Time Power Hour, when we begin the 'Mixed Match Challenge!' Please log onto www.nwashowtime.com right now for After Buzz with Cathy Kelley immediately following our broadcast! For Michael Hayes and Jim Cornette, I'm William Regal, saying ta ta for now!"
NWA: Show Time After Buzz with Cathy Kelley aired as normal.
Kelley spent her time analyzing the brackets and even doing a little bracketology. Cathy raved at the prospects of both The Undertaker and Goldust in the tournament, as well as noting that Michelle McCool is in just as good a shape as in her active days. Kelley noted that she thinks 'Robe Warriors' are the prohibitive favorites, but likes the chances of both 'Best in the World' and 'B&C BayBay.' Cathy seemed the most intrigued by 'Team Little Big,' which has the smallest and largest athletes in the tournament on one team. With a final wink and a smile, Kelley signed off.
