June 7, 1997
Match 1: Shane Douglas vs Chris Chetti (ECW Television Championship)
Douglas against a Rookie to open up the card. Douglas begins the festivities by insulting the locals about their Hockey Team being swept in the playoffs. He then tells Chetti they should give the fans something they haven't seen in a while a real wrestling match. Chetti shakes his hand and they seem to have an agreement. As the match begins Chetti is holding his own with Douglas. The wrestling match seems to favor the young Chetti, doesn't take long before Douglas says to hell with this agreement and starts getting dirty. After a hard fought battle Douglas comes out on top with the belly to belly suplex and the pinfall for the win.
Match 2: The FBI (Full Blooded Italians) vs The Pitbulls
The Full Blooded Italians here are Little Guido and Tracy Smothers, their manager is Tommy "Wildfire" Rich who insists on being called "The Big Don". The FBI put up a good effort and take some good bumps in the match, the power of The Pitbulls is just too much for them to overcome. Pitbulls get the win.
Match 3: The Dudley Boys vs The Sandman & Balls Mahoney
The full Dudley gang almost, Spike's not here, but Sign Guy Dudley and Big Dick Dudley are. It's Bubba and D-Von in the match though. Pretty intense feeling before the match even starts as D-Von is waiting on the turnbuckle with a chair in his hand. Wild brawl all the way through. Weapons, blood, outside interference from Big Dick Dudley. The Dudley's eventually get the win after a Dudley deathdrop on a Steel chair on a Bloodied Balls Mahoney. They advance to face The Eliminators later in the night.
Match 4: Terry Funk vs Chris Candido (ECW World Championship)
Stevie Richards has to make the crowd uncomfortable by telling us all he was supposed to wrestle tonight, but can't due to injury. Wild match. After some early back and forth action, Candido works Funk over with piledriver after piledriver at one point, but can't get the 1-2-3. He then goes for multiple neckbreakers, but that don't work either. He then sets up 2 chairs in the middle of the ring and hits him with a neckbreaker on the chairs. Joey Styles says "He may have broken the Champions neck!"...but amazingly Funk kicks out. Power Bomb by Candido and AGAIN Terry Funk kicks out. Funk starts getting back into it with a neckbreaker of his own, but Candido quickly gets back on the attack. Candido starts getting disrespectful with Funk slapping him around which fires up Funk who starts going crazy with headbutts...after a wild swing and a miss Funk gets Candido with a roll up pin! Funk takes a hellacious beating, but wins the match!
Match 5: Raven vs Tommy Dreamer
Crowd chants "You Sold Out" at Raven, I assume because he was about to begin his WCW tenure. They play up on this as one of Raven's cronies tells him "There's no sense in wrestling this match, why beat yourself up just go I'll handle it boss". Raven starts to leave, Tommy Dreamer gets the crony out of the way and goes to get Raven to make him go through with the match. After a wild melee through the crowd they finally make it back to the ring. Low blows and craziness ensues. Near falls for Dreamer, near fall for Raven after interference from Louie Spicolli. Raven hits Dreamer with ANOTHER DDT, and gets yet another near fall, but Dreamer kicks out and hits Raven with a Death Valley Driver. After that he picks up Raven one last time and shouts out to the crowd E-C-Fucking-W! and then DDT's Raven on a stop sign for the pinfall victory!
At the end of the previous match RVD, Sabu and Jerry Lawler come out to the ring and start beating the hell out of Dreamer and taunting the locker room saying isn't anybody tough in ECW? Lawler then says "They should build this place out of toilet paper, because there's nothing in it but shit"...they beat up a whole lot of guys here, and then finally Taz answers the challenge. They leave the ring, Taz talks shit for a long time saying he ain't gonna leave the ring until Sabu comes back. "I don't give a fuck, I ain't leaving"...finally the challenge gets answered which brings us to....
Match 6: Taz vs Sabu
Sabu trying to use his quickness to trouble Taz, but Taz is busting him up with very physical attacks. Taz has Sabu locked in a choke, Sabu rolls and gets the pinfall on Taz. Taz is pissed off and chokes out several referees.
After a bit of chaos Shane Douglas starts talking shit to Taz from the stands saying he's seen enough of his greasy ass for one night so why don't he take a walk. After a bunch of talk they finally agree that Shane Douglas is gonna wrestle Taz with the stipulation being Taz has 3 minutes to beat Shane Douglas, if he doesn't do it. He's gone for 60 days. But Douglas' TV Title is on the line.
Match 7: Taz vs Shane Douglas (ECW Television Championship)
For the first minute and a half of the match Douglas is beating up Taz and it's looking like this was a very stupid move on Taz's part, but eventually Taz locks in his choke hold and gets the win and the title via submission!
Match 8: The Eliminators vs The Dudley Boyz (ECW Tag Team Championship)
The Eliminators were going to have to vacate their Tag Team titles, but after pleading that the titles mean so much to them Kronos agrees to defend the titles by himself. Perry Saturn has a torn ACL so he can't compete. Kronos gets his ass handed to him in the early going getting jumped by both Dudley's and Big Dick Dudley as well. Eventually Saturn gets involved cracking the Dudleys with his crutch. He even does an elbow drop off the top rope with a broken leg! Amazingly the injured Perry Saturn picks up the pinfall and the Eliminators retain their titles.
Best Match: My favorite is the Terry Funk vs Chris Candido match. It's impressive to see the old man bump like crazy and still get the W.
It was a pretty fun show all around really.
