It's happening again:
in June of 2000 we saw 24 men lead by arguably the greatest ever, Mitsuharu Misawa leave AJPW to form Pro Wrestling NOAH
Nearly 4 years ago there was another exodus this time lead by Keiji Mutoh as 12 men would leave to start Wrestle-1
4 days ago, history repeated itself, but for the first time it wasn't All Japan that was effected, it was AAA:
Appearing in The Crash (Konnan's new promotion) Pentagon, Jr. showed up alongside his brother, Fenix El Rey. They declared themselves the Lucha Brothers, and Pentagon rechristened himself Penta El 0M, to be read as Penta El Cero Miedo. Renaming himself and forming a tag team with his recently-estranged-of-AAA brother naturally got folks thinking Pentagon was done with AAA as well, and it turns out that is in fact the case.
Pentagon headed to Facebook to clarify this himself here is a translation: "Hello everyone, like you all already know, today I stop being a part of AAA and become a completely independent wrestler. To clear things up my new name is "Penta el 0M" (Penta The Zero M, as in Zero Miedo, no fear). And about the Perros del Mal stable, we are just waiting for the approval of the person in charge of that brand, if he wants me to stay on the stable or for it to remain in AAA. I will confirm that later. These days I’ll go live to clear up all of your questions. Meanwhile, I know I have of all your support on this (new) stage of my career. Remember, PENTA EL 0M."
The story doesn’t end there, as AAA wrestlers Daga and Garza, Jr. also appeared on the show, and took a photo with Konnan where he claimed this was just like 1996, the year he and several other AAA stars jumped from AAA to Promo Azteca. They then confirmed their departures this afternoon, Garza, Jr. on Facebook and Daga in an interview with Superluchas
---------------------------------------------------------------
What this means for Lucha Underground is anyone's guess, though I think there was thought this may happen which is why Pentagon became Pentagon Dark last season as AAA owns the Pentagon Jr gimmick. What should also be noted is that Konnan & Jeff Jarrett are on good terms again... & with Jarrett back in TNA will we see the likes of Pentagon & Fenix in TNA? Let the speculation begin
