NXT – PLYMOUTH 17/6/16
Well this was my first NXT live event and the last leg of NXT tour, there wasn’t an empty seat in the whole arena. You probably all have seen the entrance screen on tv before but seeing them live is a different matter, they are so bright and clear and the sound is so crystal clear it was just adding to the atmosphere.
Wesley Blake vs Hugo Knox
This was a good opener, and the crowd was well behind the local guy (Knox is English), this was the first time watching Knox as he has yet to make his NXT tv debut. This guy is well built and got plenty of personality. Only an English crowd would give a “Robbie Savage” chant to Blake, and if you was English you would understand. Knox pinned Blake after a split legged moonsault, and after the match he started dancing. If this is Knox then he should be on TV really soon.
Angelo Dawkins vs Alexander Wolfe w/Sawyer Fulton
The crowd was pretty dead for Wolfe entrance which isn’t a big surprise because it seemed like no one had any idea who he was, then when Angelo Dawkin was announced you could tell it was a hint of disappointment. This wasn’t a great match, and Wolfe was just terrible, I admit that Dawkin did try and give a good performance and was getting slightly over with the fans, but Wolfe gain the victory with the help of a distraction by Fulton
Bayley & Carmella Vs Alexa Bliss & Peyton Royce
One thing is for certain that Bayley is so over its stupid, the pop for Bayley is unbelievable, I cant remember a reaction for a female performer since the days of Trish and maybe this was even bigger than Trish. The best friend were definitely having fun tonight as well as the fans, as the whole crowd was singing “Hey Bayley I wanna know if you be my Girl….” And then Bayley and Carmella did the Cass and Enzo’s Swaft which was awesome hearing it live. Alexa Bliss got a decent size pop when she entered and its was a really good match. The ending came during the chant of “stand up if you love Bayley” where everyone was standing and she hit the Belly to Bayley
Bobby Roode vs No Way Jose
Yes Bobby Roode made an match for NXT, and boy the shock was great to see him in front of everyone, and No Way Jose is a great entertainer, there was even a comedy spot where Roode and Jose danced in the ring, but after that Roode was his serious self and a decent match where Roode kicked out of Jose finisher and pinned Jose after a spine buster
Tye Dillinger vs Andrade “Cien” Almas
Tye is really over with the fans, he made his entrance with everyone chanting “10”, and got the mic and starting talking about being a 10 then turned it a heeled it up by saying that he’s not happy being a place that is a 3, the trouble is that Tye is so much loved that the fans didn’t care for his heel attempt. Cien ring announcement is pretty muted, however this is one of the those match that a wrestler turns the fans around and they might not have been in his corner at the beginning of the match by the end of the match he had earned our respect. This was another really good match and using a different finisher from Takeover this time using a double moonsault
NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
American Alpha vs The Revival
This was a great match from start to finish, and the American Alpha are really over, I love the duelling chants for Jordan followed by Gable, the Jordan then Gable. The chemistry with these two teams are great. Alpha’s won by dq when they hit their finisher but the ref was pulled out of the ring to cause the dq
NXT WOMAN TITLE MATCH
Asuka vs Nia Jax
Oh my god can Asuka throw those kicks and chops, very similar match to Takeover, and love how the chant of “Asuka gonna kill ya” directed to Jax. Another good match with Asuka getting a pinfall after a vicious kick to the head. It did seem that Asuka was kinda hurt as she was helped to the back
MAIN EVENT
Fin Balor & Shinsuke Nakamura vs Samoa Joe & Austin Aries
What an amazing way to finish the show, each competitor got a really decent pop, however listening to everyone sing Nakamura theme was unreal, you could feel the excitement before they even started, this was a great match and could had gone either way however Fin Balor pinned Aries after double team Kinshasa/Coup De Grace
After the match Fin grabbed the mic and was telling everyone what has happened the last two weeks and the World tour for the NXT crew, and the fans were getting into it with “what” chant and you could tell that Fin was having fun with it as well. Everyone left with a huge smiles on their faces on see one hell of a live show because dam NXT delivered.
So after the show as I had a really good idea where the wrestler would come out too, as well as roughly 40 other people, we all waiting around hoping to get some of the wrestlers to come to use to get pic and sign stuff. Luckily enough some wrestler did come to meet us, the likes of Jason Jordan, Angelo Dawkins, Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss and Bayley, and I was lucky enough to get autograph from Bayley (yes omg I got Bayley autograph ) Jax and Bliss who all signed my hoody which must have nearly a dozen wrestlers autographs by now
