SECOND ROUND
ARN ANDERSON & TULLY BLACHARD VS DUDLEY BOYS (BUBBA RAY & D VON DUDLEY)
While the Dudley Boys may be the most decorated tag team in history, to me, Tully and Arn are more of what the prototypical team should be. Each ones strengths complimenting the others weaknesses. The technician and the enforcer dynamic that is so often missing these days.
STEINER BROTHERS (SCOTT & RICK STEINER) vs ROCK N ROLL EXPRESS (RICK MORTON & ROBERT GIBSON)
Easy pick for me as I have never seen what was so great about the R&R Express. Sure, Ricky Morton perfected the face in peril/hot tag gimmick, but other than that.........Meh! The Steiner Brothers on the other hand were real badasses who legitimately knew about 600 different ways to toss you around like a set of cheap luggage.
HART FOUNDATION (BRET HART & JIM NEIDHART) VS MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (STAN LANE & BOBBY EATON)
This one was tough! I'm a big fan of the Hart Foundation. They have the same yin and yang dynamic that I talked about earlier with Tully and Arn, but the Eaton/Lane version of the Midnight Express are my 2nd favorite team of all time, so they get the nod here!
DX (TRIPLE H & SHAWN MICHAELS) VS THE VON ERICHS (KERRY & KEVIN VON ERICH)
I voted for the Von Erichs here as I don't view DX as a true tag team, I see them more along the lines of Rated RKO or Jerishow, 2 top level singles competitors who just happened to team up for a championship run!
ROAD WARRIORS (ANIMAL & HAWK) VS BROTHERS OF DESTRUCTION (UNDERTAKER & KANE)
Easy pick! Not only does my DX argument also apply to the Brothers Of Destruction, but The Road Warriors are quite possibly the most dominent and influential teams in history.
BRITISH BULLDOGS (DAVEY BOY SMITH & DYNAMITE KID) VS JACK & JERRY BRISCOE
While I respect what men like Jack and Jerry Briscoe brought to the buisiness, The British Bulldogs compleatly changed the way Vince McMahon and the WWF looked at tag team wrestling and paved the way for all the smaller/athletic teams to follow!
HOLY DEMON ARMY (TOSHIAKI KAWADA & AKIRA TAUE) VS STAN HANSEN & BRUISER BRODY
While I am not so familiar with Kawada/Taue, I am very familiar with how dominent Hanson & Brody were!
OUTSIDERS (KEVIN NASH & SCOTT HALL) VS FREEBIRDS (MICHAEL PS HAYES & TERRY GORDY)
Tough pick here, one of the most influential teams in wrestling history or the team that triggered the biggest boom period this industry has ever seen!? Outsiders on a coin flip
