Match 1: Samoa Joe vs Jushin "Thunder" Liger
Busy, fast paced match that is fun to watch. It's very short, only a little over 7 minutes...which seems strange considering the names involved, but this is during Joe's unbeaten run, and they're really running with the "Joe's a Monster" thing here. Still though Liger doesn't go too easy, he has his share of offensive moments, and near falls. They pack quite a bit of match into 7 minutes
Grade: 3 stars *** (These two I'm sure could have a better matchup with more time)
Match 2: The Diamonds in the Rough (Simon Diamond, Elix Skipper & David Young) vs Sonny Siaki and Apollo & Shark Boy
Almost all the moves are rushed and executed in very sloppy fashion. A few in ways where it looks like somebody could've gotten hurt. At the end it turns into a bit of a spot fest with several of the wrestlers doing dives out of the ring and what not. Nothing special here.
Grade: 1 star *
Match 3: Lance Hoyt vs "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown
Decent match. Impressive to see the 6'9 Hoyt do a Moonsault and connect. Lots of near falls and high impact moves from both wrestlers...I didn't pay attention to the time, but it was a reasonably good match. Adding story element of Brown having interaction with Jeff Jarrett before the match and seemingly being too focused on Jarrett and the title and perhaps almost overlooking Hoyt.
Grade: 2 Stars **
Match 4: Team Canada (Eric Young, Bobby Roode and A1) vs 3 Live Kru (Ron Killings, Konnan and B.G. James [Road Dogg])
I have to suffer through the corny ass pre match bullshit talk of Road Dogg and Konnan which I always hated passionately. So that doesn't help my appreciate for the match straight off LOL. Then the antics continue in the match with a lot of dancing around and foolishness. The wrestling is ok I guess. No better than the other 6 man tag from earlier on the card. There's a thing at the end of the match where "Kip James" [Billy Gunn] hits somebody with a chair because he had their back or something...I don't know. Match sucked.
Grade: Half a Star `
Match 5: Ultimate X - 3 Way Match - Petey Williams vs Matt Bentley vs Chris Sabin
Fast paced match, but everything went wrong with the Ultimate X gimmick, they had a big X hanging from wires, and the idea was that you had to climb up to it to get it, well it kept falling and Petey Williams caught it twice. The first time they rehung it. This kinda screwed up any kind of meaningful impact the match could've had...though in all fairness to the performers it was a good match. Chris Sabin was pissed afterward it looked like.
Grade: 2 Stars **
Match 6: NWA Tag Team Championship Match - America's Most Wanted (James Storm & "Wildcat" Chris Harris) vs The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas)
Decent match, another short one though. Only a little over 10 minutes. They try to sell how brutal and violent of a team AMW is by having them bloody up Stevens, and attack them after the match. At one point during the match they handcuff one of the Naturals to the guardrail, and have the other one in a handicap match. They beat on him for a minute or so and then get the easy finish.
Grade: 2 and a half stars ** `
Match 7: Monsters Ball (4 way Hardcore Death Match) - Abyss vs Sabu vs Jeff Hardy vs Rhyno
A little over 11 minutes of pure mayhem here with chairs, ladders, tables, a Crazy dive from Jeff Hardy, Blood, and a brutal move for the finish with a Piledriver from the middle rope.
Grade: 3 and a half stars ***`
